... August - Smeaton ...
Saturday 28 August 2021 looks like a good fit. I've messaged the Cumberland Hotel for a lunch reservation, waiting for a response, in the meantime save the date. More details will be posted later.
-
JD and Chippy are in👍
-
Yes please!
-
Sounds good. :think1 Not sure if I have that weekend clear yet.
Will keep you posted.

Who woulda thunk that this could conflict with Kev's busy social calendar?
You might need to go through Ballarat Kev, don't take a wrong turn.
-
You can add Russell & Sue to the list, although we may be in the car... :clap
-
Not so much social calendar, as Doctors appointments, he works on Saturdays.
-
Its in my calendar. Let you know later if its just me or the two of us.

So far we have ...
- Jonathon & Vera - 2
- Nigel - 3
- Kev (if he's free) - 4
- Russ & Sue - 6
- Garry & Chris - 8
- Michael & Helen - 10
I've heard back from the Cumberland Hotel, they normally don't do a Saturday lunch - but will do lunch if we have 10 or more. Need to let 'em know by Friday 27 August. So plenty of time, I expect we will have a few more added to the list by then.
-
It's a yes for me, Dr appointment has been moved to the following Tuesday.

Hope we don't need to bring a BP monitor and / or defibrillator.
:Norty
-
Nah! Just going for an update on my bung knee. :thumb
-
Kev, dont listen to anyone. I will take their jam. We make make home made raspberry jam which is the best jam ever but I really like the strawberry jam you get. It isnt as sweet as most strawberry jam. Happy to buy some too.
Hopefully I can ride and therefore may be solo. Or I may have a mate. Will advise closer.

We have our minimum of 10 for the pub to serve lunch.
-
The Guru from Giru & Diane won’t be blessing us with their company this time round.
Diane’s having too much fun sitting in the warm weather and topping up her Tan, the Guru is enjoying driving the new Kubota tractor around picking up hay bales and fixing the irrigation system. Next time if we’re lucky.!!!
Cheers
Neil

Already stocked up on Jam for this trip.
Any late attendees will have to let me know if they are joining us. :thumb
May need someone to transport some jam to Popeye as well, if he cant attend?
-
With the current COVID situation here in VIC there is NO certainty on this RTE proceeding. A call on this proceeding may not be made until PM Thu 26 Aug.
Already stocked up on Jam for this trip.
If it doesn't proceed, I hope there are enough preservatives in the strawberry jam and it'll be okay until Kev's next RTE. Otherwise Kev may need to eat it all - it would be interesting to see a big red strawberry riding an ST.
-
Not a problem, things will improve. If the RTE is cancelled, will always be able to distribute jam locally as many friends also buy it direct from the farm.
-
Unless regionals are locked back down again, Sue & I will be there...and hopefully Kev as well!
So that's 3 of us... :grin

You might go hungry then as ....
.... minimum of 10 for the pub to serve lunch.
And unless riding to Smeaton for lunch is a permitted reason to ride through the Greater Melbourne Metro Area, your ride will be something like this (at a minimum).

We can always chow down on the jars of Jam... :grin
-
I see lockdown is extended for another 2 weeks... :fp

Yeah, God is 'Angry' on TV right now making the declaration.

Regionals are actually allowed to travel through Greater Melbourne, Michael! :thumb

As we couldn't make lunch numbers, I let the Cumberland Hotel know. And I receved this in response ...
Thanks for letting me know, my normal hours are from 4:30 on a Saturday as I won’t be doing lunch now I won’t open until our normal time.
Cheers Amanda
I'll let Kev and you to make up your own minds re. attending. I suppose that goes for some of the other regular regionals - Marcus, Sulky, Gordo, and I 'spose a few others.
As far as travelling through Melbourne, I have enough trouble keeping up with what we in Melb can and cannot do without having to track the same for you pesky regionals. But I wouldn't want to run the risk of being pestered by the authorities by riding through Melbourne in a lockdown period. Two-up on a motorcyclewould standout like the proverbial dogs balls, particularly for any overzealous authorised officer.
And FMD, what would you do if you had any unforeseen breakdown (of course, unlikely on the ST, but non-Honda fuel and tyre problems are not unknown), and run another risk of not complying with what I would presume to be a requirement not to stop. Could this mean some difficulties on your return to and at home?
-
The way the lockdowns are spawning, I'll keep 2023 calendar open for the next RTE.

Oh well, I guess we can always make it dinner by the sounds of it, whatcha reckon, Kev? :whistle
At this point we'll keep our options open as we have until a few days before to cancel our accommodation.
As Sue will be on annual leave we may very well pull the pin and go elsewhere...
As for breaking down while travelling through Melbourne, that's classed as an "emergency" so shouldn't be an issue, restrictions wise.
I'd then probably do what I'd do at any other time...call Roadside Assist! :grin
Just as a heads up, you are actually allowed to stop for fuel/drinks during your travel through, you just have to abide by the rules...
We've travelled through (and to) the Greater Melbourne area during previous lockdowns.
As long as you've got the necessary paperwork to show there shouldn't be a problem. :X
-
I'm out :(
-
I'm out :(
And I'm guessing, everyone else.
-
Its not looking good for this one. I guess a rethink and revamp of the rest of the year down the track. Whatever that means. A wait and see approach.

We cancelled our accommodation in Smeaton last night.
We're now hoping to perhaps travel & stay in Beechworth or surrounds instead, assuming regional areas aren't locked down before then... :X

Yes, our booking in Daylesford for the Saturday night also cancelled.

Where had you booked? Not many accommodation options in and around at Smeaton, although Helen and I stayed at Abergeldie Bed & Breakfast a few years back. Old world charm, good ole country hospitality, super breakfast - was very nice.
