Title: Ignition activated wire for USB charger
Post by: ozhank53 on June 20, 2022, 09:33:49 AM
G'day. On my st1100 ex police, trying to find an ignition activated wire to connect my usb charger to. I've run the multimeter over all the connections in the police whale tail under rear of seat. Not found any with volts yet. And where are the extra fuses. I've found then main ones to rear of battery on left side.

I'm supposed to be leaving tomorrow morning! Help please.

.... an ignition activated wire to connect my usb charger ...

Can't help with your specific request, but I run a USB port hard wired (via a fuse, of course) from the battery.  This way my iPhone, intercom, etc.. can be charged when parked and / or overnight.  Works for me.

Here is the link to the Police wiring diagram, https://www.dropbox.com/s/ezmyjf6qfp6pwqd/Police%20Switch%20circuit.pdf?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/ezmyjf6qfp6pwqd/Police%20Switch%20circuit.pdf?dl=0)

Pin 6 on the 9 pin (110 style) plug should give you what you need..

Thank you so  very much. Have ground some standard flat crimp connectors to fit until I can source the connectors. Next job when I return is to find high beam wire to go to police switch to activate some LED driving lights via relay to avoid moving road hazards ie emus, skippies and black cattle!

To tap off high beam, I used an H4 piggy back connector and used the existing head light connections . I used Switch 4 (I think, maybe 7) to control the spotlight through a relay, and used the strobe wiring ( the wires with the bullet connectors) to take the spot light wires to the front. after all why not use what is there..  You could use free strobe wiring to bring the high beam sensing to the connector in the rear..

Thanks for the tops. Really appreciate. Hard to get my head around the wiring but I think I'm getting there. At least phone charges now when travelling.
