Well the time has come to part with my beautiful 1300. I've owned it for 15 years and has been the best bike I've owned during the past 47 years of bike ownership. Reason for selling is simply downsizing. If anyone knows someone who wants a well cared for 1300, send them my way. Even my dealership where I have had the bike serviced for all of those 15 years, agrees it is in excellent condition. Located on the Sunshine Coast, Qld. Thats a really nice looking ST Skip, and heaps of life left in it. I hope it goes to a good home.

Thanks Steve. It is very tidy. Mixed feelings but life goes on. I'll put up more photos tomorrow hopefully.

A very nice looking example... :thumbs

Good luck on the sale mate, someone is going to get an amazing bike (if I needed another ST I'd buy it in a heartbeat) :thumbsup
I highly recommend this bike to anyone looking for an ST :thumbs
Remember you are always welcome at any OzSTOC event/RTE :runyay

Sad day when you have to get rid of one of the family
I see my old one regularly and would love to take it for a ride again
But I am happy with the move to the Spyder
I still get the buzz when I want
Hope you get a quick sale
:hatwave

That is a very nice example of the ST1300. If only my ankle could still hold the weight of an ST1300.
All the best with the sale.

As I'm trying to sell my Golf Alltrack, Shiney recently gave me the advice to take the car (bike) out to nice locations for the photos, and include one of the front of the vehicle, from down low.
Since the change last Sunday, the car has been added to 3 "saves".
It gives the buyers a bit of an emotional response and helps envisage West they can do with it.
This is what I changed the photos to:

I did think I should have taken photos in a nice location, but then I have no photographic flair to highlight that anyway. I'll see how it goes, and if no response in a week, I might con my daughter into some photography duties. :grin

Montville Main St and the car park under the trees, Mary Cairncross Park with the Glass House Mountains in the background, a photo coming through one of the twisties up that way, beach side with wave crashing on the background, etc.

Skip, what are you downsizing to? Cheers Nigel

BMW R1200RS. I've been looking for a replacement for a while. Test rode about 6 different bikes over the past few months and as soon as I got on the Beamer I felt it suited me perfectly. I don't need a full-on tourer and I didn't want an adventure bike. Comfort and reasonable wind protection were the 2 'must have' items. The Beemer offers that and some other nice features and is MUCH lighter.
:grin

My ST1300 sold within an hour of posting it up on FacePlant MarketPlace and the background was my garage roller door...lol
I guess a nice background can't hurt though... :grin
Good luck with the sale! :thumbs

Deposit was put down last night without viewing the bike. I won't celebrate just yet, but very confident.

Welcome to the Beemer Club Skip. You will need to prepare yourself for the inevitable ribbing, but understand that everyone pokes fun at Beemer Riders ...... up until they've ridden a Beemer. :grin
-
Thanks Pete. I understand. :thumb I must admit this is my first BMW experience, ever. I had never even ridden one before. Hopefully it will serve me well.

I've ridden a couple over the years and I still continue to hang sh*t! :grin
Isn't that right, Nigel??? :whistle

Nigel has been an easy target for a while, even when he had his ST1100, which swapped for his BM. I thought he had seen the light when he stole bought an ST1300 for a Sydney OzSTOCer, but then he passed that onto his brother. It has been a case of one step forward, two steps back.

When I had my Ex Pol 1100, it literally parted the traffic. Great bike, but got me into trouble with being done for speeding, and no, I`m not a hotrodder! So I said to myself, put cruise on it or update.
Looked around and settled on the BM, as it had all bases covered, and was 50k lighter. Getting older.
Have to say that I`m extremely happy with it, and it has served me well. The gearbox is a bit agricultural, nowhere near as sweet as the 1100 or 1300, just different.
Starting to look at bikes that may be lighter.
Happy with Both Brands though... :butt

Careful, that extension lead needs to be a lot longer! :grin

Being serious for a moment... :whistle
I actually really don't care what brand of bike some-one has, so any teasing is just a bit of fun and hopefully people see it for what it is. :grin
Definitely no offence intended... :thumbs

No offence taken here. I had a couple of bad experiences with European cars and bikes in the late '70's and '80's. I guess a lot has changed since then, but I did my fair share of 'mocking' in past decades. Humble pie could do with a dusting of icing sugar though. :wink1

May be the case with your current ride, but .....
My first experience riding a BM was in the mid '80's on a mate's then relatively current model R65 (ex-RTA licence tester bike - his old work ride). We swapped bikes for a ride to Marysville (he rode my Honda CB400F). The BM was lumpy and rough, compared to the silky smooth Honda 4 - put me off BMs for three decades.
Next time was in 2009 at the Ulysses AGM test rides, a GS1200, and I thought that things haven't progressed much.
I'd ask Nigel to swap bikes for a test ride on the way to Mannum, but once he was on the ST1300, I probably wouldn't get him off it, and would not be able to catch him anyway.
:whistle

My mate has a 2010 R1200RT (air cooled) and I have found it lumpy and the rocks when you give it some throttle at idle. My 2016 R1200RT (water cooled) shows none of those characteristics and is much smoother, but not as smooth as the V4 ST.
-
Ideally, I wanted an in-line 4, a comfortable and upright seating position with reasonable weather protection and around 220-230kg.
The Versys 1000 was the closest but not really a fan of the 'adventure style' for a road bike and it was tall and just north of 250kg. A very nice bike though, just not what I was happy to settle for. The Beemer is a bit lumpy at low revs and gearbox is clunky in the first 3 gears but after that, really lovely. Mines only done 27000 so I'm guessing the gearbox may get better with more k's on it. Time will tell.

Just watched my much loved ST drive off into the sunset, without me. Now, just turning the page to the next chapter.

Can't go wrong with a Spyder....
