ST1100 Hazzard Light wiring diagram
« on: June 23, 2018, 02:49:02 PM »
Does anyone have a 95 ST1100 wiring diagram that includes the hazzard light curcuit. Not sure if it's the switch or the flasher unit. would like to see where the wires go to diagnose the problem. Thanks in advance. :hatwave

What ST1100 do you have Ex Cop or not

Try the hazards with the indicator selected left or right, if it works then hazard flasher is dead or missing

It's the very last page

In the parts list the wiring harness shows two relays at the back of the bike both marked as winker (hazard relays maybe) ) and the usual indicator relay is in the normal position behind the RH side panel.

There are only two parts to the hazard system, the can and the switch. A power lead goes to the can, and then to the switch. When the switch is pressed, it allows a path to both left and right indicators.

A quick check of the switch is to turn on the bike, select an indicator (left or right) and both will flash. if no double flash then the switch is damaged (probably dirty contacts , can be cleaned but the chance of wrecking the switch is high)

This assumes the hazards arent working when ignition is off ( you should hear the flasher can and see the flashes if all is working)

As I have just found out on my 1100 , which is ex police bike , there are two different hazard light switches , one for standard 1100's with three wires and one for the police 1100's with two wires .
Part numbers
35160-MZ9-900 standard
35180-MZ9-900 police , the police hazard switch can incorporate the High/Low on the headlight.

This switch has H/L Hazard inscribed in white, and isnt the one you need. Oz didnt use the the strobing head light feature, but the Pommes did. Our bikes arent wired for it

Mine must have the pommy wiring because I ordered the standard switch from Honda and it had three wires , the one I need is the one with two wires which is the H/L switch.

have a check under the side panel (should be able to see in there if you pop the engine cover.), there should be two plugs under there. one goes to the 9 switch (controls the strobe pole brightness), and one with three wires for the hazard lights.

I have both switches on my bike, the H/L doesnt do anything yet (hasnt since I installed it)
