Only nine more sleeps until we start gathering at Mudgee.

I'm heading off early tomorrow, spending a long, long weekend attending the Cold Flame Rally at Native Dog Flat camp ground (about 50km east of Benambra - https://goo.gl/maps/yDBPZhdkNy1oRHCc6) - well and truly in the bush and no internet.  Will be back on-line on Monday, checking for any last minute Mudgee updates.  Planning to be at Mudgee later afternoon Friday 12 Mar, see yuse then or Saturday.

Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

Had a call from the BIG4 today, apparently I had booked twice, so they cancelled one booking.  As of around 2;00pm I expect they had a cabin available.

ETA, still around 4:00pm to 5:00pm tomorrow.  Have a dozen stubbies of Amber Ale in the esky, hope they have travelled well.  Nigel or I will post an update.

Currently in West Wyalong, copped a fair bit of inclement weather considering it was nice and sunny in Vic this morning. Weather atm in Mudgee is not good , but looks as if it will be clearing tomorrow arvo.

I plan to get away around 10 ,which puts me there around 2?  Sitting behind the storm clouds.
Hopefully dodgeing most of it,  as for dinner, leave it loose.

Solo 1 out..??. :grin

Out

Arrived 2:30pm.  Ahead of schedule - to avoid rain, which I did for all but 5km, not even enough to get wet.

One stubby down, more to go.

Met up with Justin & Alison and Nigel, planning tonight's festivities.

If you're looking for us Nigel is in #12, Justin & Alison in #16 on high side of children's playground, I'm in #6 on low side - just look for the VIC OzSTOC flag.

Okay, Ladies & Gents, the brains trust has determined that there will be a ride tomorrow to Rylstone.  Be at the Big4 entrance at 9:30am, for a 9:45am departure, that means we'll leave no later than 10:00am.

Joso will lead us on a merry ride, if you can't keep up, meet us at Rystone - we'll have lunch at the pub.

Here's a rough map: https://goo.gl/maps/sPkdgYY5oLhqkAXo8

Starters so far are Joso Nigel and me.  We have Justin & Alison and Johnny at the park, Nigel we rustle them up early tomorrow.

Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

Thanks to Joso, Wilko, Johnny and Nigel for attending the RTE at Rylstone.   The ride to and fro ably lead by Wilko (albeit a bit slow), nice cheap (lunches started at $10) at the Rylstone Hotel, Saturday market opposite - a good all round day.

Nana nap now, gotta be awake for the dinner at the Oriental.

Sunday 7 March

Despite a leisurely morning waiting for tent and gazebo to dry, these items were packed away damp to be dry-out at a later time.   By 9:00am I was back on the gravel heading to Omeo, there was no rush because the Mitta Mitta Hiighway was closed for an on-road bicycle and was scheduled to be reopened around 12:00 noon.  Time for a quick shower $5 at the caravan park), fill-up with fuel at Omeo.

Back on the road again, slowly until the Falls Creek turn-off (due to many bicycle stragglers), and then some spirited riding through the twisties, with an occassional stop for some pics.

Near the Glen Valley Hall.

An old church (I presume St Mary's) at Granite Flat.

There was no sign of the school or guesthouse.

Granite Flat was a ....

A short stop at the Mitta Mitta pub for a squash and some potato chips, and the Corryong for the night.  The Corryong Hotel Motel is renowned for it's range of excellent parmigianas and cold beers on tap - I wasn't let down.

The day's route was something like this.

Monday 8 March

After a coupla nights and restless sleep in the bush, I slept in and just got on the road by check-out time, 10:00am, and headed for a late breakfast at Tumbarumbra. Stopped at a lookout overlooking the Murray River and took some pics.

After a coffee and a sausage roll in Tumby, I fuelled up and hit the road again, and then stopped for a pic at the locality of White Gate.

I suppose it must be pretty high here as the yellow lines are usually preserved for snow prone areas.

A pic at Bill's Bridge.

Then Tumbelong.

Then Muttama, a neat church and war memorial.

TBC ....

Today's route was something like this.

Monday 8 March (cont.)

Most of us have travelled the main highways (Hume Highway, Newell Highway, Olympic Highway and Mid Western Highway) in these parts.  On a coupla of previous trips, and this one I decided to ride the B and C roads.  I also road some D roads, but not through choice, because of a wrong turn.

There are many quaint, unspoilt and quite lovely little towns on these lesser roads, tonight's destination was Boorowa, to get there I took a route through Murrumburrah, and high on the hill was ...

The convent / presbetery look abandoned, but there was some activity, just as well ass it would be a shame to see the grand old abandoned and fall to pieces.

Some parts of the shopping centre had seen better days.

Some silo art in the town.

Overnight at the Boorowa Hotel, Guiness on tap, a pint or five, what more could a traveller ask for?  The pub was very biker friendly, the publican showed the write-up he got in Australian Road Rider.

Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

Tuesday 9 March

Breakfast at the Shamroock Cafe (attached to the pub), with ST and trailer parked out the front, finished packing whilst waiting for my poached eggs, and trouble struck - lock on trailer lid broken, barrel, pins and springs fell on to asphalt - DAMN, HELL, POOP - 45 minutes later, found all pieces, safely stashed in an envelope, on my way.  Whilst I had aedequate gear in my panniers for the rest of the trip (with an extra wash or two), it preyed, dwelled on my mind on the ride.

Stopped at a locksmith in Cowra - it's eff'd mate, so I Googled Bunnings (the lock I got from Bunnings, so expected they would have a replacement - and I was correct), nearest one, closest my route was in Orange.  GPS set for Bunnings, but not before as coupla pics at the old railway station.

Some Council workers told me that the train doesn't go through Cowra anymore ... d'oh!

And then through ...

Lyndhurst, thought I might get a cuppa from JD and Chippy, but then I remembered they are in another Lyndsomething.  But is was worth some pics.

Thought I might get a bite, but no.

A coupla boys on Harleys turned-up at the pub for lunch.

Don't think there's been any showing at the movie house for some time.

Then Mandurama ...

And Carcoar ... Carcoar was featured on Back Roads or similar a couple of years back, I thought it would be worth a stop.  It was, as was the coffee and pie.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carcoar,_New_South_Wales

Capitol Theatre ...

There must be a reason why they paint the old railway stations that colour.

Post Office and Court House ...

Catholic Church on the hill ...

The Stoke Stable Museum, built by convict labour in 1849.

I thought George Woolnough, was from Tenterfield ...

And then Millthorpe ...

Before ...

After ...

Before ...

After ...

If you're planning a trip through this prt of NSW, these towns are worth a visit.

Got to Bunnings, bought a lock, fitted at a workshop (Brad Selmes Mechanical Repirs - no charge - thanks Brad).  Don't bother going to John Spicer over the road, "Can't look at until Thursday", with time lost it was a quick 100km odd sprint to Wellington for the night.

Stayed there at the Central Hotel, $50 for a room, what a dump.  I've stayed in some dumps over the years, this is the only one I won't go back to, even if was $20 - yeah, it was that bad.  At least the $20 meal at the Wing Garden Asian was good.
