RTE Overnighter Jamieson
« on: January 30, 2022, 04:35:25 PM »
Currently planned for Saturday 19 February 2022, but nothing booked so not set in concrete.  There is a suggestion that an alternative date be selected, so here's a chance for your input.  Votes are anonymous (but you can elaborate in a response) and limited to one per member.

So knock yourselves out.

This is a dinner overnighter, but some may only want to meet for lunch, whereas some (like me) will want to attend both.

Accommodation options for those staying overnight are very limited, eg. the Courthouse Hotel, Jamieson Caravan Park (cabins, camping) and a few BnB's.    Checking a few websites, vacancies are currently NOT plentiful.

If there are accommodation problems, this RTE may need to change to just a Saturday lunch.
Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

Sue just looked up accommodation at the caravan park and she said it's completely booked out for the 19th...  :fp

I voted for the 19th, just so I could see what others had selected... :whistle

None of the other dates actually suit as we already have other plans on the 12th and the 26th...

If it ends up staying on the 19th we may just come for the day...and in the car...  :think1

Mmmmm ..... I'd set the poll options to show the poll's results to anyone, so you shouldn't need to ....

I had breakfast with Moto Guzzi Martin this AM, 26/02 suits him.  So that looks like it'll be the 26th, but the poll has few days to go.

Re. breakfast, Martin, Steve, Maurice, Mick (guys I went to primary school with, so friends of 65 years) and I meet for a First Friday Breakfast a tradition which started 20 years back.  We lost one, Kevin (who succumbed to a cancer, back in 2017).  There'll be another at some stage, but currently we all too stubborn.

Anyways, it looks like we'll be a definite no show then...oh well, hopefully we'll catch up with everyone in March at Jindivick!  :thumbs

I just checked availability at the caravan park for the 26th and they still have some...  :thumbs

2 vans which are $110 each a night, an ensuite riverfront van for $180 and some powered sites for $39.
Just be aware there's no bedding or towels supplied with the 2 basic vans...

I'd suggest if you're wanting accommodation, you'd better get in quick!!!

https://www.jamiesoncaravanpark.com.au/

A quick look on booking.com shows no other accommodation is available for the night of the 26th...  :fp

I've called the caravan park a couple of times, get a different person and answer each time.  My level of confidence in their organising ability is not very high.

Perhaps just a day trip to somewhere closer will be a better option.

I had an invite to a rally at Meeniyan that weekend, an option is to have a Saturday RTE lunch at Meeniyan and for those interested an overnighter at the rally site.

If anyone is interested / not interested in this viable alternative, post your response.

Russ can walk there in his new riding gear.

I could've...if it was only on the 18th or 19th... :grin

Unfortunately Sue & I have other plans on the 25th/26th so can't attend the RTE or the Rally...  :fp

Speaking of Rallies, where's the challenge attending one in the middle of town???
I remember back in the good ol' days when half the fun of a rally was the challenge of actually getting into the rally site without falling off!  :whistle

The challenge these days is sleeping on the ground or, if your lucky, on a stretcher 300 mm or 400 mm above it, and being able to through a leg over the motorcycle saddle in the morning.  But with plenty of room in the trailer for all of the mod cons available these days for motorcycle camping, it's luxury.

Yes, getting up after sleeping on the mattress on the ground for two nights at Native Dog Creek last March was difficult.  I've since got one of these stretcher tents, hoping this will make a difference.

Time will tell.

"stretcher tent"  Very impressive. It's correct name is, appropriately, ULTIMATE ALL WEATHER STRETCHER QUEEN  :girl-blowing-kiss-smiley-emot

At 26kg I'm assuming it's a trailer job or a car trip. Looks pretty good BTW, I'd be interested in a review.

If I'm gonna need a trailer to haul the stretcher tent around I figure I might as well just get one of these...  :thumbs
