How about the Maffra hotel as another choice?

Not us, as I'm planning (subject to good weather) for Helen & I to lunch at the Little Red Duck Cafe at Noojee between 1:00pm and 2:00pm.  Would be pleased to have some company.

Re. good weather, I hope Neil hasn't jinxed us with his forecast of good weather for painting.

With the Macalister Hotel in Maffra now added to the options in Michael's Poll I'm more inclined to vote for that rather than the bar at the Tinamba Hotel mainly because Sue & I would rather eat pub meals that are at a reasonable cost rather than "fine dining" and paying basically double.
Are we on our "Pat Malone" in preferring that???

Maybe that's something we should all have a conversation about before organising future RTE's?

At the end of the day it's just a shame Sue & I didn't realise that the Tinamba Pub was more a yuppy pub before we put our hand up to attend this RTE...
Oh well, that will teach us for not checking things out properly before committing...  :whistle

Tinamba Hotel featured on Channel Nine's "Post Cards" yesterday evening so the place may be extra busy this weekend...  :popcorn
We happened to see that part of the show which is how we found out their meals were "fine dining" and not just your normal pub meals...

Some middle ground ....

I called the Tinamba Hotel, Simon there was very helpful, the Amba Bar menu (https://tinambahotel.com.au/amba-bar-menu/) is available Saturday evening.  If there is a general consensus on that being suitable, I'll make a booking for 8 at 6:00 to 6:30pm.

I would prefer dinner at Tinamba, not too keen on riding to Maffra with all the gear, boots etc, but happy to go with whatever is convenient for all.
6-6:30 means that’s when we are seated Rusty   :grin

Hopefully that's what it means, JD... :wink1
But then again, after perusing the Bar Menu, 30 minutes is probably enough time, there's not a lot to choose from if you want any sort of meal...lol :grin

Oh well, a table for 6 at Tinamba or Maffra, we can decide over a glass of squash, or sumfink, as we sit around the pool.

I expect we'll be there around 4:00pm.

Saturday morning arrived and we couldn't have asked for better weather, just perfect for the ride to Tinamba...
Sue and I headed across To Morwell then made our way via Tyers to Glengarry.
With plenty of time up our sleeve before our 2pm check in time at "Happy Days" accommodation in Tinamba we decided to call in to Cowwarr Weir.
Sue had mentioned to Chippy that morning that it was a nice place to visit but it was still a pleasant surprise when, upon arrival, JD & Vera were there.
They very generously shared their yummy food and drink...Thanks guys!  :runyay

Shortly after we headed to Tinamba, which was less than half an hour away.
After checking in we relaxed and awaited our El Presidente & his better half to arrive...

Okay, decision time...where were we going to eat?
In the end we decided to just eat in the Bar at the Tinamba Pub which was within staggering distance which I think suited Michael...  :p

While not the cheapest place to eat, the food ended up quite good and I think everyone was happy with the meals they chose.

All too soon it was bed time for us old folk...

Awake early, Sue & I headed for the kitchen.
We had cooked and nearly finished our bacon & eggs before Vera & JD arrived, followed some time later by Michael & Helen...I guess they needed their beauty sleep!  :thumb
With dishes washed and put away, it was time to pack bags in preparation for departure but not before a photo with the bikes & flag.

With that done we all headed for Briagolong for a coffee.
This ended badly with nothing open so the decision was made to head to Maffra...

After coffee/hot chocolate we then went our separate ways...For us it was to Rosedale, where we then turned off the highway and headed for home the long way via Yarram, Welshpool, Foster and Leongatha.

Oh, we ended up detouring to Port Welshpool after I foolishly suggested stopping off there for a late lunch of fish & chips...I'm not sure it did wonders for our diets, but the flake and sweet potato chips were delicious!!!

All in all, yet another great RTE!  :runyay

Vera & JD at Cowwarr Weir

Waiting on El Presidente & Helen...

                                                          Still waiting...

While the pool looked amazing, it wasn't heated so we declined on a swim...

A couple of the locals stopped in for a visit...

For this RTE we may have been small in number but we had the cream of the crop!  :p :grin  :rofl

Hi Team,
Sorry we missed the Tinamba RTE, my weather forecasting skills triumphed again and the roof painting project was completed as planned. Now have a ‘painting free’ Easter long weekend to look forward to. Attached herewith. a couple of photos of the finished project - good to be done as despite the full safety harness us 75 plus year olds should not be pushing the safety envelope with ladders and heights, we definitely don’t bounce anymore.!!!! If the photo attachments don’t happen here advise and I will PM them thru for you.
Looking forward to the Gellibrand RTE in May, take care everyone
Cheers
Neil & Valerie

All in all, a great weekend, great company, great weather, great venue, great ride, great food.

Re. venue - Happy Days - there was talking of hiring the place out for 15 to 20 OzSTOCers for some time in 2023.  Yes, the pub food is on the higher side of average (and the restaurant is even higher), but the Happy Days set-up (kitchen and BBQ area) is suitable for self-catering, and with seven family, queen and triple rooms, it would be suitable for 15 to 20.

Re. the ride - 12km from home the Mighty ST hit a roo.  Was travelling at around 60 - 70km/h, Skippy jumps outta the scrub, braked to around 40km/h, braced for impact.  Superb skills of rider kept ST and pillion upright.  I think Skippy may have a bruise or two.

If you zoom-in you'll notice the location - Dawson Road, Kangaroo Ground.
