It wasn't pitch black thanks to a full moon but I left in the dark, unaware at how many bugs the kwaka had collected until sun came out and shone on the screen.  I took this photo at a rest area in Dutton East, just east of Truro.

Grrr... the wheelbarrow had only just come back from a service and had a good clean.  Truth be told, the dealership wash it more than I do.  Next stop was the checking station in Blanchetown.  I have never seen it (or any other checking station) open.

I rode down into 'town' to pop the drone up over the lock.

On the way out I rode onto the old bridge which was deemed unsuitable for b-doubles and a new one was built.  The old one is blocked off but one managed to squeeze the wheelbarrow in.

In the distance I could see a hot air balloon so zoomed in on that.  It reminded me of working at Raging Thunder Advenures in Cairns in the nineties.  We had a hot air balloon tour and chasing them down in a 22 seater coaster was fun because you didn't know where they would land or change direction.  It was nice of these guys to rotate it so I could read their Yalumba text prerfectly.

I rode into Cobdogla, Loveday and Winkie for the first time.  The lizard was in a yard in Loveday among a whole heap of sculptures.  All I saw in Winkie was the post office.

This alligator was beside a wishing well in Glossop.  My only other photos in Glossop was an old tram carriage outside the school.  I didn't think I'd be able to get a photo of it being election weekend but there no were polling booths here.  They did have a RAT collection point which saw me get a stare from the lollypop guy as I pulled up short, took my photo(s) and left.

I don't know what these are called but I love them.  There were some at the servo in Barmera so I bought some.

For some reason I thought I had never been into the centre of Barmera until I saw this flood marker and realised I have photos of it so I guess I had been here.  It must have been new years day 2015 on a firenze.

It was a relatively straight trip here and I arrived at the venue over an hour early.

There were a heap of these cars doing laps around town.  I snapped a few of them before getting the drone up over Lake Bonney.  For what it's worth, South Australia has two Lake Bonneys.

I've got video of that yellow boat coming in but haven't looked at the video footage yet.

It was great to catch up with JD and Chippy for the first time since Tasmania and the last National Rally in november 2019.  I thought they may have been at the Curdievale RTE which is why I said I dug that thread up in the 'deleted threads' thread.  I saw Greencan for the first time since Robe and Balranand, march and may 2019.  Seven of us turned up for this RTE and three of them were Victorian.

No Guinness at the venue so I had Asahi Super Dry instead.  It was a great little venue and sitting out overlooking Lake Bonney was pretty cool.  The flies loved it too.

The Victorians also meant we had three STs at one of our RTEs for a long time.   :Stirpot

The ride home was straight home without any stops except for some hydration at Blanchetown.  It was hot.  Next month we're off to the Gungullan Hotel in freeway, used in the set of Mcleod's Daughters.  You're all welcome.

So it was a "real" OzStOC RTE instead of a "bogus" one, Bodø...  :grin  :p :Stirpot

Thanks Bodo , great photos and ride report. I, started my Border Run from Barmera before and have found it relaxing spending a few days by Lake Bonney. I also enjoyed meals at the Lake with discounts from the motel and the caravan park.  ++

I've gone through the drone footage from Blanchetown yesterday.  I think my Barmera footage will be better (but as yet haven't viewed it) but nevertheless here's Blanchetown and the Lock 1 on the Murray River.  Had I known the pelicans were behind the wall I'd have gone in for a closer look.

I stopped at the bridge on my way to Maitland last weekend. The plaque has some interesting details.

Another great video, and a great soundtrack once again. Almost sounded like Nina, of 99 luft balloons fame.

That's exactly who it is, live in 2018.  The song is called Leuchtturm which means Lighthouse.

In the opening seconds and final minute or two of Bodo's Barmera video, the eagle-eyed will have spotted a something steel on a post nearby.

This is that something steel. A stylised model of Donald Campbell's Bluebird. There is a blurb to go with it, that tells you everything you need to know, much better than I can.

And of course, the obligatory pic of an ST with the thing, in this case, the small thing.
