Do you have a pair of ST1300 seats to sell or giveaway?

In addition to countless farkles, for my duck's disease statue, I have had a pair of custom cut-down leather seats by John Moorhouse since my 1st (2003) ST1300, with these seats now on my 2008 ST1300.  I don't do many miles, and no long trips anymore. This 2nd ST of mine only has 59,000km on the clock. As I am nearing 65 and find the bike getting too heavy for me, I have been thinking of selling it. One alternative I was looking at was a tricked-up MT09 but that is now delayed.....

In January, I had a roller skating accident that resulted in serious fractures to my ankle (and fibula), which needed surgery for 3 screws and a wire. My cast came off Monday last and I now have a moon boot for the next 3 months. Then in June or July I will have these screws etc removed to give me back my full ankle movement; then more recovery and lots more physio and exercises. At my initial physio assessment yesterday, I was told I would not gain full use of my ankle until late in the year, December?  So no roller skating and no riding for the rest of 2022.

The injury has me reassessing my attitude to risk. My ST is parked in my garage on trickle charge and it will be for too long.  I would like a nearby neighbour I trust to take it out for a run, but he is very tall. It will be difficult for a taller person to comfortably take the bike for a run, let alone a test ride.  Hence I thought I should acquire a second seat.  Can anyone help?
Cheers
John

If the seat shown will fit a 2003, then I would be willing to swap a pair of standard seats for it. I only have the one set, so that is the best I can do, but others might have spares.

I do wish you as speedy a recovery as possible, and hope that it is relatively painless.

What were you doing rollerskating at your age? I haven't been near a set of those deathtraps for at least 30 years, and I am not quite 60 yet.

In my experience the general price I have come across for a set of standard seats is around $200 (depending on condition).

Unfortunately I don't have any spare seats.

Although not help with the seating, I would also start the bike every month or so and let it come up to operating temperature. This will get the fluids moving around, and prevent moisture contamination of the oils. Of course getting some one to take it for a run is a great idea.

Hope you find a seat, I think there may be a loaner out there some where..

I have a spare front seat that you are welcome to borrow if that helps.
A man rides on his STeed, says “Why am I short of attention? Got a short little span of attention”.

You can call me Steve, with apologies to Paul Simon.

Hi Wild Rose, I’d be interested in the seat if you are selling and not already taken.
Cheers.

Thanks everyone for your replies.  I have 3 options to consider!

I have sent Private Messages to Dragonstaff, Wild Rose and CallMeSteve about the options.
Cheers

For those following this topic, yesterday I borrowed CallMeStreve's standard front seat.  This will allow normal/taller riders to test ride my ST1300. Then when I make a sale, a decision can be made between me and the buyer on what the seats will be.  That may mean contacting someone like Leo (Wild Rose) in Toowoomba or Dragonstaff in SA.  Cheers
