Need an ST1100 fuel tank
« on: September 07, 2022, 11:46:24 AM »
I cleaned out some rust from inside my fuel tank whilst the carbys are off being re-built, and it has revealed a decent hole in the bottom of the tank (the rust was preventing fuel getting out!).  :||||

Does anyone have a non-leaking tank?

Hi DaleAP,
I have a complete fueltank which still has some fuel in it. No apparent leaks, but I can empty it and check the inside if you are still in need of one.  I’m based in Sydney.

Thanks, but I no longer need one (forgot to update this post). I ended up having the old tank chemically stripped, holes brazed and then the inside coated & sealed.

Hi Dale.  That’s good to hear you have had it repaired. Always a worry finding someone game to apply heat to a fuel tank… haha

Cheers. Steve

Where did you end up getting that done?

I had the stripping and brazing work done at Fuel Tank & Radiator Service in Northgate, Qld. I purchased the internal coating (RedKote) from that same place and did it myself as they don't see the point in charging heaps to do it when it's easily done yourself.

And I still have heaps of the stuff left over!
