First I think Diesel needs to explain how he got the 3.24 miles?

Thanks Brock.     :thumb

First I think Diesel needs to explain how he got the 3.24 miles?
Wikipedia:

5 kilometres

For an observer standing on the ground with h = 1.70 metres (5 ft 7 in) (average eye-level height), the horizon is at a distance of 4.7 kilometres (2.9 mi). For an observer standing on the ground with h = 2 metres (6 ft 7 in), the horizon is at a distance of 5 kilometres (3.1 mi).

*I added 0.14 mi as a guess for the extra height I perceived the camera to be at.

And now Brock can show us the maths...
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

As Diesel guestimated the distance to the horizon, so I guestimated the angle A to 60deg

That gives a ratio of the triangle side as 3:4:5

Therefore,  3.24:C/2:the other one.....

Formula   (3.24/3)*4  = C/2 or C = 8*1.08 = 8.64

As we are guessing a bit, lets call it 10 miles, or 16 Ks

This might become a "pinned" thread.

I'm proposing it for anyone to write anything they want that doesn't warrant a topic/ thread all of its own.
Some posts will be replies, but it doesn't matter what trend the topic takes, because THERE ISN'T ONE  :grin

The idea came to me when I was riding home thinking about what happened to me on my Newcastle overnighter.

I arrived there at 4:00 PM and thought I remembered where my motel was.  It was a very windy day yesterday (was again today!) and I rode along Zaara Street towards the Esplanade.  About 20 metres from the corner I encountered wind so strong that it threated to blow the bike over.  I stopped and put both feet down and tried to walk the bike backwards.  The wind was being funnelled into the street between the buildings and every time I took the weight off a foot the wind would gust from the opposite direction and threaten to blow us both over.  Thankfully, three blokes helped me turn it around and I was able to escape.

These 300+ kg bikes are a handful at the best of times, but when they want to act as a sail, they are impossible to manage.
I am already googling for some lighter replacement of the ST for the future. Anything under 250kg or with 4 wheels (Mazda MX5) is considerd.

It's a Honda and it has a shaft drive.
So you can't really go wrong with one.  Hasn't got the grunt of an ST1100, but you wanted light-weight.

Well, one of my two CX's will hopefully be up for sale before the end of the year... Honda, shaft, what more could you ask for ;)

After replacing the water valves on the washing machine a few weeks ago the drive belt broke this morning. Lucky a new one was found on Ebay for $28.50 to our door. Should arrive sometime between the 21st and 26th.

If it keeps drifting away from its origins at this rate it might end up being hijacked into Honda subject matter.    :butt

Amazing....Aussie Post managed to deliver something earlier than expected......can't let that get around. New drive belt arrived this morning and fitted this afternoon. I won't mention that a little swearing took place due to the dog supervising and making sure I did it right.

Now our front loader can start rotating and spinning and not get agitated like some do...........lol
