New Rear PR2 and a bit of a wobble at 100-110 k's?
« on: October 07, 2012, 06:28:20 PM »
Just had a new PR2 fitted on the rear and done maybe 150k's now. Comming back up highway today I thought the bike was sort of wobbling from 100-110 kph. Maybe sideways wiggling is more apt description.
Any idea's about what might be causing this? It was windy but direction of wind never stopped the wobble. Was the same with side wind and tail wind so thinking it was not the wind.
Is it something I should refer back to the dealer who fited the tyre or is it just a wearing in thing?

Thoughts please.. Cheers.

Check to see if the tyre is centred all the way around the rim.
I recommend that you return to tyre fitter as also may be the way the wheel was refitted to the bike.

Is this the second posting in a week or so about wobbling after having a tyre fitted. The other was a different brand from memory. This is a worry. I have never encountered this sort of a problem after having a new tyre fitted, EVER. I would have turned around and straight back to the bike shop as soon as I noticed it. This is definitely not normal from my experience.

2 things Bevan:

1. Check tyre pressure with a reasonably reliable gauge. I have NEVER had a tyre shop fill a newly fitted tyre to my requested air pressure! (trust me when I tell you about tyres!  lol)

2. Put bike on centre stand only and idle it in 1st gear - observe rear tyre for movement - record it with your ph/cam and post it up to give us a gander.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Diesel

I've never had this problem either.
The last time I had my tyres done by a dealer they road tested the bike before it was it given back to me. I had the F and R done at different times and the road test was done on each tyre. It surprised me as they have been the only dealer to have road tested the bike in all the time I've had it.

I fitted a PR2 to the rear of mine for the Black Dog Ride, no problems at all.  Take it back to the dealer.
