An Acid filled battery cant be sent with acid in th it, due to international regulations and safety.  The so called sealed maintenance free acid filled batteries, have a sealing plate that is fitted after the battery id filled by you. This is suposed to catch moisture released during use and keep it in the battery..

The Glass mat batteries have the acid trapped in the glass wrapped around the plates. this makes it safer to handle.

Just picked up my battery and it says it is a Nano Gel. Wow. A 'Nano' Gel. Is that better than a plain old Gel? And yep a Power Volt, made in China, but then what isn't, and $103.10 from the Honda STealership.
If it lasts as long as the current one I'll be happy with that.

My bike has a YTZ13s. Its close to dead now.

Whats the push start thing with these bikes. Does it work or just get your heart rate up and your bike further from the shade?

No worries clutching her but you want a good grade or a long hill. You don't want to have to push it back up. Trust me. Phew.  :H  BHA. (Before Heart Attack) Pays to buy one now and carry it in the top box if you think you can squeeze some more out of the old one.

Push start works if you have some life in terms of the display coming on (been there done that with leaving the grips on at work before I wired them properly).  EFI bikes like the ST13 may be a bit more picky about how much voltage is needed to get the EFI pump working.

So I can say with all honesty...I got the last drop of life out of this battery. The last.

Cape was able to push start me in Warialda and I scampered for home. Pulled the pin on Nindigully Pub Ride which is a bugger. Cape has gone on,just rang me from Goodiwindi.

Gave the bike a crank when I got home and notin happened. Dead as the DoDo.

Felt good ordering a new battery and I'll have the bike back together in the morning :clap

So the battery is back in the bike and the world is the correct way up.

Bought a battery through DTM Tamworth. 02 67622606
They build and service golk carts and goffers and heaps of other stuff. And they took a quick check in their catndogs to see what else would fit just in case.

So I have a

MOTOBATT MBTX9U.  This is a ready to go QuadFlex Battery 4 Terminal, AGM maintenance free. It replaces YTX9BS, YT12ABS, YTZ12S, YTZ14S,YTZ13S.

And it cost $79.00  in the store no emails/credit cards and all that tec stuff. Out of curiosity I enquired at a bike shop in town and they wanted $290.00 for the same thing :||||

much happier now

I moved house and lost my battery charger. I used to keep the bike on "float" charge because I don't ride very often. Unfortunately, when I got the bike out earlier this week the battery had discharged to about 3.5V. Fortunately it recharged and I went off to battery world to buy a replacement anyway. I like the Yuasa mentioned earlier in the post but also found the price is too steep at the moment as it is rego time. The friendly sales person at my local battery world told me that as long as the voltage doesn't drop below 10V whilst cranking over then the battery should be ok for the moment. I tested it, 10.6V on cranking!!!. So after buying another float charger (I need one because the bike sits alot) I have decided to see if I can get some more time out of this current battery and I will test the voltage at cranking in a couple of months to keep an eye on it. To check the "cranking voltage" all you need to do is hook a multi-meter across the terminals whilst you get an assistant to start the bike. The lowest voltage that you read whilst it starting is apparently the "cranking voltage" of the battery. But..... we all have been at the servo in the middle of no-where when the battery won't go so it's a balance act of reliability vs cost

Just buy the battery Sleepin

In the long run its just not worth the hassle. I made the old battery step just one servo too far and missed out on a good weekend out the bush. I knew the thing was on the way out but chose to be a tightarse and cost me.
At $79 it didn't kill the bank and I had 4 regos all in a line so it is doable. My bikes might sit for a few weeks then chew up a few thousand K's in a couple of days. The TDM is on its original battery at over 100,000 klm and we had a mild winter but I have noticed its a bit slower turning over so expect a new battery soon.
I just bought a CTeck charger for another job I'm working on. I should have bought two and worked a deal.

As my 08 1300 still has the original battery when offered one of these for $75 I thought it was worth trying. Weighs almost nothing.

http://batterytender.com/products/batteries/lithium-iron-phosphate-battery-lifepo4-la-eq-10-14.html

Weight and size almost unbeleivable, guess I will find out if their claims are true.

The price of those seems to be coming down really fast.  At $75 well worth a try.

I noticed today that CTEK now has a specific charger for Lithium batteries.

That's a good price for a lead/acid, especially with free postage, since with over 3kg weight, the postage is considerable.  340 CCA from PbAGM is very hefty.

Had to laugh, 4wd Extreme is a side line for a battery company I work for, you will find the battery packaged extremely well and will be extremely happy with the battery. I have had the same 1 in my ST since September last year.

I ordered the the Glass Mat construction battery for my ST1100 from All Purpose back in August last for $80.00.
Definitely no acid to fill, completely sealed.  Post was no issue at all.  Not missed a beat since then, and it better not have.

I just bought one of these as well.  Current price $91.50 free postage.

Due to the Christmas/New Year break, I'm not expecting it until the end of next week at the earliest.  (They go back to work on Monday too).

Battery is not dead yet, but it takes a few cranks to get it started.  Looking forward to a new battery.
Cheers,
