Well, unfortunately after driving all the way to Bathurst to buy the bike it wasn't anything like it looked in these photo's?
It wasn't that it was a bad bike, it was just in considerably poorer condition than the photo's (and the owner) had suggested.
I was disappointed as soon as I saw it. The amount of stone chips and other marks on the bike surprised me, and the fact the bike hadn't been detailed for sale told a story of lesser care than I was lead to believe the bike had enjoyed?
In fairness it was a 97 model bike and the owner was correct when he said "you have to expect that kind of wear and tear on a bike that age".
In the end we still enjoyed a great 4 day tour through some really pretty countryside. I have no regrets, and I am just thankful that I did go to the trouble of driving down there and inspecting the bike before buying it. Had I done as I have done a few times in the past and brought the bike off the photo's and arranged for it to be shipped up to Brisbane, I would have been spewing when it got here.
