Twisting Throttle New Zealand
« on: May 19, 2013, 06:02:10 PM »
For those of you who are familiar with the rather hilarious books 'Twisting Throttle Australia' and 'Twisting Throttle America', Mike Hyde is about to release the next one; 'Twisting Throttle New Zealand'.
If you would like a pre-cursor taste of what riding our fine land is all about (for when you next come over), have a look at the link below. (Great sound track to go with the slide-show).

Cheers,

OK, added to the bucket list. While I'm not sure putting an m/c through the surf is a good idea, I do wonder if a more "adventure" style ride is perhaps more appropriate than something like the ST.... any advice for those who've grown up there?  I believe there's no regular boat between Oz and NZ, so I guess it'd be a hire job (or buy and send back perhaps).

I shipped my ST both ways last year for a lap around your fine land. It's dead easy these days and surprisingly cheap. Get a Carnet (Google it) from NRMA or whoever your equavalent to our AA is and then talk to Mainfreight. They made it pretty straight forward for me (Caught a flight into Sydney, short taxi ride to their Botany depot, got on my waiting Steed and rode off). They even stored the box for me for 7 weeks. Cheaper and more satisfying than hiring in either country although I can't advise on hire companies having never used one.
