Dual seat mod for ST1300pa
« on: May 30, 2013, 03:29:14 PM »
Hi folks,

This is my first question, so apologies if I'm in the wrong section or if this has been covered before. I couldn't find it tho.

I've just become the proud owner of a 1300 PA, and looking for any advice on adding a pillion seat. I've looked at Corbin/Sargent so both of those are options, but is there any other mods or bits you need for them (or for that matter, a factory pillion seat or any other options) for them to fit?
I rang the Aust distributors for both of the above and neither knew if other bits were needed.

Apart from pegs, is there anything else I need to be aware of?

Would appreciate any insight from those who've done this :)

I believe that there are catches needed for the rear seat that need to be welded on, or the rear frame replaced. The only way to find out is to compare standard with P model, side by side.

1300A 2005 seat parts list.

http://www.hollisterpowersports.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=2517652&category=Motorcycles&make=Honda&year=2005&fveh=132222

and police version

http://www.hollisterpowersports.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=3393302&category=Motorcycles&make=Honda&year=2005&fveh=162488.

Doesn't appear to be much for the rear seat and just added parts for the police version. Remove the extras and the seat should fit.

Anyone with a 1300 that has done this might confirm the details.

Thanks for the replies guys,

Alan, yeah I've looked at the 1300A and 1300PA fiches side by side and can't see anything that'd be a problem. If anything the extra couple of bolt fittings on the PA might be in the way so maybe have to be removed, but don't look like it.

Just hoping someone's done this already before I dish out the bikkies and wait 8-12 weeks (!) for a second seat.

Brian has described a Think Tank. Best way to proceed, especially if they get merry, never know what you'll end up with.

The rear seat catch is part of the sissy bar, the catch being in the centre of the frame. Four bolts hold it too the frame of the bike.

The page you want is called grab rail.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread.

Just wondering if anyone has done this conversion yet? I'd like to put an OEM dual seat on to replace the existing single seat and hump.
