The one on the right looks like a 3mm round head bolt that the Allen key has rounded out and has been removed with a centre punch and hammer.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

I am just letting someone else have a go - may as well be Pockey as it is not a male only game!  The exhaust wrapping is interesting.

It could well be, given that I have not looked inside an ST1300 valve cover to date to check what else is in there, and also don't know what bolts might seize up and need to be removed like in the first picture.

Oh sorry, will put it in blokes terms. :rofl

They are the inspection covers for the timing and crankshaft on a ST1300 from a 2006 model I think in burgundy, and has a air horn fitted probably made by nautilus and perhaps a 12V aux socket in the left glovebox  :think1 no make that the right one.

All that from two little metric bolts.  Sherlock Holmes would be proud!

Well Done Pockey!!!  :clap it is indeed the crankshaft and timing inspection caps, well done!

Leave it to a GIRL to do the "investigative" work, trawling thru my past farkles lists.... :CB--

The story with these sorry looking caps is, while performing valve clearance inspection, I noted the dealer that perfomed this last (from previous owner, yes, name and shame! Ferntree Gully, Vic. Jeffrey Honda, no longer in buisness.... ) has destroyed the soft walls of the 10 mm + 6 mm Alan inspection crankshaft and timming caps on the front engine crankcase cover. (For those that need new ones, parts 90087-kt7-000, 90084-ky2-000)

I also note, due to overtightening, he has pinched the o-ring of the cap which resulted in a nice little mess.... :spank

I removed the front wheel and guard for better access, with use of heat gun, (thanks brock for the advice) a heavy "persuader" and a 1/4 inch extension bar, they broke free.
They were simply overtightened, unecessarily by the idiot dealership technician, (NOT mechanic) they only need 9 foot pounds!

Now it's your turn Pockey, go take a nice photo and go easy on us.... :-++

Haha, Thanks Pokey,

I believe it may the front fork cap bolts >:()

"Clearly...."  the 17 mm hex nut welded onto a bolt is a "homemade farkle tool"
(Honda would not allow spot welds as shown, sorry Abe, no disrespect intended  :-++
to assist in removal of the fork caps when bar risers are installed.....

But, as the game states no farkles permitted...  :well

on closer inspection of the photo, it may just be:

the OEM front 17 mm fork cap that has discolored and in overall neglected condition?

Your second guess is close enough I believe, it's the "top retaining bolt from the front shock of a ST1100"

So the Pic is now yours  ;-*
