That one only goes for a minute, but that was plenty long enough!
Remarkable effort, though, to build even the engine from Meccano parts.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

watched this on TV. also, I agree with the slow lap. maybe if his passenger had ditched the kippers and bread he might have gone a bit quicker.....
maybe.

Just ditch the passenger. He didn't add anything to the show other than weight to slow the bike down.

A true record and test of mans endurance. Off to bunnings now to fabricate an F1 car made entirely from PVC plumbing pipes and fittings.  :H

Has anyone stumbled upon info about the engine?
I know Meccano have included clockwork and electric motors in their kits, but none would have been big enough to power this.  And I can't see how you'd make an IC engine out of Meccano parts- all those holes!!

On the tele show they showed how they used a heap of the little motors geared and chained together, with additional drive for steep bits from a golf cart motor on the right hand side.
