Hi all
Just putting this question out their as have tried MC cruise control.
My ST1300 has a MC cruise control which was working on a run but then continued to deteriate over time. in that the cruise control would gradually fail to hold speed and drop out of cruise control. Error code is Speed sensor but have replaced and checked magnets and sensor.
Has any one else had this issue and if so did you find a solution?

Make sure the air gap from sensor to magnets is within 3mm or so. Quite easy to have the sensor gap increase too far when changing tyres. McCruises usually just work when set up properly. The support they offer is great, so perhaps worth getting in touch with them. On the ST1100 I lost some magnets, but they had a setting for using only 3, which works great.

I have not experienced this problem.
I remember Ray when I installed mine, the instructions where very insistent on requiring 1 - 1.5mm play in the cable. (cable near to the air box, I'll try and find the instructions)
But the cable may have stretched with all the K's you do. :thumb

When I fitted the McCruise to my 1300, I decided I did not want to use the magnets at all because of possible malfunctions resulting from tyre changes and just general knocks etc, so I tapped into the speed pulse sensor and it works very well . . . The guys from McCruise were very helpfull supplying alternative cabling and advice on some adjustments to the connections to the control unit . .

After a tyre change mine started to do exactly what you describe. At an RTE someone pointed out the gap on the sensor on the rear wheel and the gap wad about 5 mm. Closing the gap made it reliable again.

You can use an 1/8th drill bit as the spacer for the rear tyre

The sensor gap is the most likely problem.
The other problem I encountered was the vacuum line being compressed under the fairing. I'd had it on for two years when it started playing up. The symptom was, it would engage (amber light) but not control. I took the seat off, jiggled the control box and it worked. After that happened a few times I tested the leads from the controller to the actuator and they were fine. The MC Cruise guy talked me through on the phone, a diagnosis. It turned out that the reason taking the seat off had nothing to do with the controller and everything to do with "unpinching" the vacuum line. I re-routed the line and it's cured.

Also don't assume the vacuum hose is ok. On the earlier ones they did not use a great vacuum hose, and it tended to split. This was on the earlier 1100s. Sensor gap causes most problems, unless you are missing a magnet or two.

I installed the cruise control myself a good many years ago. and been working fine up until now. The guys at MC Cruise control have been very helpful, but still the issues continues.
Strange thing was it was working then slowly began not holding speed over a run, which makes me think more a vacuum issue than speed sensor, but will continue looking at this.
It passes all the trouble shooting checks of switches, solenoids and cables, also calibration is fine is set to 4 which is as per manual.
I was thinking the vacuum hose may have a developed a hole and will be looking at this over the weekend hopefully.
If not will go back to basis and check every install step.

I did find the original vacuum line on a second hand one I installed had split, so replaced the lot. I assume McCruise has worked you through cleaning the solenoids?
