Title: Allendale North RTE
Post by: StinkyPete on October 08, 2022, 05:28:06 PM
It was a beautiful spring day for a ride, so we headed to Allendale North, just 100km from home, for our SA RTE at the historic Wheatsheaf Hotel.  On arrival there were around 100 Harleys parked on both sides of the road, with the crowd spilling onto the roadway.   After a brief chat with a couple of the riders, we found that they were not staying for lunch, so we waved them goodbye and settled in for our quiet meal.    This was PC and NavGirl's last catch up with the SA crew before they began the journey back home, and it's been so good to meet up with them several times in the last few weeks.  THis is a great little pub and worth a return visit.

Thanks to the following who made it today....

Great little pub? :grin

Glad that you were able to shift the Hardly's on.

The food was good, they've grown their reputation on it, although it took a while to come out. They also had zero beer, which is great - love a beer on an RTE lunch, but not when riding.

While I was closest to the pub as the crow flies, the hills roads added time & distance.

I detoured via Mt Pleasant farmer's market on the way there, picked up a nice beef roast for later & some Greek desserts, which have been judged as spot on.

Sue & I were just down the road from you guys...visiting Maggie Beer's Farm Shop.
If we didn't have friends from NZ travelling with us, we could have joined you all... :'(
