"When I bought this home as a 'fixer upper', you rewired it as necessary, at no cost (labour only, I did it on weekends)
Then when the shed was built, you wired it as well, and when you retired, you supplied me with all those power tools (I had duplicates of drills, angle grinders, bench grinders, cutters, hand tools etc that I no longer required) Then there were the fishing rods, reels, etc which you donated. Each time I came up to Portland, there was something new added, like the solar security lights in the backyard, the lawn had been mowed, and so on.
As I came into some money recently, this is my way of repaying you for your friendship."
