Title: Time for Forum to accept post
Post by: Biggles on April 07, 2015, 12:36:03 PM
For quite a long time now I've noticed it can take up to a minute from the time I click "Post" to the time it appears on the Forum page.
I deduce it's going through my online data files checking my credentials, because if I then make an edit to the post it accepts it immediately.      :CB--

Is it just me?      :fp

It's doing that for me as well... and for a while now

And because of that I suspect it's timing out tapatalk which is causing the double posts we're seeing

I'm not sure I've notice any slow down,  this post will let me know as I will pay attention.

Server must be in WA.  By the time the post works out the time zone it almost times-out.
On FarRiders and DRA I get immediate responses, so they must pay their ISP bill.

Similar to you but I put it down to the number of people being online locally at the same time.

But don't all the other pages load much quicker in Peterborough than the "Post" pages?

Biggles, the server is located in NSW in the very reputable Equinix data centre.

Is the problem all relating to Tapatalk or is it through your web browser? and is there a specific time it appears to be happening more so than other times, e.g. peak times of 6-9PM AEST?

Starting to wonder if it had anything to do with the forum update that was applied about a month ago or so?

Have just optimised the database, so not sure whether that will help, please let us know.

It was tongue-in-cheek ref server location.   :p

I use Chrome on a desktop.  It's the same on my laptop Chrome.
It happens all day.
There are occasions when there is no delay, but most of the time it's in excess of 30 seconds.

I'm not whinging (I think).  I've put up with it for quite a while.  It's just that I figure that if there's a simple fix (like change the Simple Machines programme's way of processing posts), then that would be a good move.

I have a feeling it began around the time of the update.

I agree with Streak.  Mine just took 5 seconds.
Maybe there has been a fix somewhere along the line.

And a Modify was instantaneous.

I got that delay with Chrome just then as well... Hmmm.... Have just uninstalled Tapatalk and now the problem is gone.

Sorry people no Tapatalk for a few hours till I can work out why that is happening, shouldn't be too hard to fix hopefully  :CB--

Doesn't matter here, we only have one exchange so it doesn't matter which Telco your ADSL is with it all goes through Telstra

I get more of a delay when making a post with pictures linked to Photobucket but for a text only post.....what's a few seconds compared to writing it on a bit of paper and sending it by post......lol

That's expected. when there are pics involved all forums do that, the simple text one ones are what we're questioning

I'm really glad you have brought this up, we shouldn't be putting up with delays with today's technology shouldn't we  :thumbs

It turns out there is indeed a major issue which is caused by Tapatalk and some of the articles I've been reading say the fix is to just remove Tapatalk altogether >:()

Hopefully we'll have it restored and fixed soon.

Agree 100% - Tapatalk just makes it a lot easier to keep up with all that is going on. Saves zooming on my S4 on web page.

That explains why Tapatalk isn't logging in.

Tapatalk is really easy for keeping up to date,  posting photos etc,  but I haven't found a way to sticky or unsticky posts.
