WA - Sunday Morning Coffee Run via 3 Dams (7th April)
« on: April 05, 2013, 09:42:41 AM »
Hi folks,

NB: this might be a good option for those that can't make the 14th to Mumballup.

Short notice I know, but my wife (the cat) is away, so the mouse (me) is playing.... I thought I'd do the 3 Dams this Sunday morning with a coffee at Canning Dam (Cafe on the Dam) along the way. If anyone would like to join me then post here. There is a chance of some light showers, but I don't expect it will cause a problem.

Here's roughly where I'll be tracking....

http://goo.gl/maps/2grlT

We could ride as a group (sedate and leisurely) and/or just meet up for the coffee.... in the map are 2 suggested mustering points as well as the Cafe location.... direction doesn't matter, but the Cafe doesn't open until 9am on Sundays. I'd prefer to do it early if possible.

So, how's this.... either ....
a) at 8:30 meet at the Dome Cafe carpark (not for coffee) and head clockwise, or
b) at 8:30 meet at the roadhouse on Falls Rd & South West Hwy and go anti-clockwise.

The road is sealed all the way, but be warned, hoons often leave the tarmac which throws gravel back on to it.... make sure you pay attention to your lines through corners. It's only a distance of about 110k  through the hills, but will take about 2-3 hours (according to Google) with the Coffee stop.

Let's see who wants to go either together or just for coffee, which direction, and offer up any suggestions/variations to this if you want. We can firm up the plan by tomorrow arvo.

Cheers, Rob.  :blk13

Rob,

Count me in I should just about have enough rubber lefty my tyres for a short ride. >:()

My preference would be Muster point "B"

Gavo, perhaps not having a drop is the problem! Take a fistful of panadienes and wash them down with a nice dark Cab Sav.

Anyway, it seems it'll only be a small group, starting at the muster point "B" at 8:30. Glen has a lunch date, and I've just found out I need to drive my snotty-nosed son who lost his licence to work for mid-day, so a prompt departure would be good. Otherwise, we might need to leave the ride early.

Regardless, it's a great forecast for tomorrow.

I think I will pass on this, start would be around 6am from York and as it's just for coffee, pass.
