Sargent Seat in Melbourne anyone?
« on: April 09, 2013, 08:41:33 AM »
Hi All,

Just wondering if any ST1300 owners in Melbourne, may have a Sargent Seat I could just sit on for a "try before I buy"

Unfortunatly I can't make it to the Vic meet in Ballarat next Sunday but would be gratefull if any member might raise a hand to help.

I am tired of my OEM modified seat, still cuts into my thigh and is uncomfrotable after 40 min riding. I have set the seat on 2nd notch to flatten it out, have an Airhawk, and sheepskin, i've tried em all, still no good for me!

BTW I located a US source for Sargent, cheaper than OZ and quicker to ship.

Single drivers seat with black welt FX carbon vinyl (thats all I need)  $340.00 plus trackable $75.00 shipping.

email michael@ridersdiscount.com<michael@ridersdiscount.com>;

thanks.

Zev, shame you can't make the Vic meet, as there will be ST1100 Corbin seat there which is hella comfy

No problems... Keep me informed on that seat progress as the OEM seat is the pits...the airhawke seems to work ok for me

How is you seat modified? (OEM modified seat)

Keeping in mind when you do sit on a moorehouse/corbin etc  they also feel a little hard... and will be hard to judge until you ride it for a period of time

Same problem so I purchased a full length corbin seat for my st1300 but it was hard and still uncomfortable after a couple of hours riding..Seems to me it is the underwear you wear,..Boxer shorts crinkle up and cut in, briefs elastic around the legs cut in , tried those expensive  black half length riding underwear from america not much better.  My best is the front seat at the full height and forced into the middle holder and wear OLD GRANDPAS LONG UNDERWEAR.  They are made out of fluffy cotton and go to the ankles, do not ride up and have no stand out seams to cut into your leg, which allows you to ride for longer periods without discomfort.

A wise and well known far rider (now deceased) suggested also  to take a couple of pain killers as you start your ride which he claimed relaxes you for the first couple of hours.  Have tried it, maybe it works

Sorry to jump in twice on this subject but I just looked at the Sargeants Seat site where they have endorsments from buyers, and most claimed that the seats were similar to the original, funny that they posted unfavourable endorsements.   Food for thought (but they are cheap compared with Corbin).

Agree with 'Rally'.

I, too, have found long, light weight underwear the most comfortable for touring.

Because of the thin, but warm, light weight construction, it does not bunch up and
create pressure creases on your thighs and bottom.

Nothing to stop you from having a full length set for colder days and perhaps a
second set, but shortened to around your quads , for the warmer days.

Just a thought.

Cheers,
Wayne

I have the standard seat and I have it on the highest at the front and the 2nd at the rear (thanks Shinney for your help) it stops me from getting pushed to the tank. It's a better ride. Put a sheepskin cover on and its alot better :blk13

Hi Brian,

I purchased the front Sargent seat only (never take pillion) from RidersDiscount.com 6 months ago.

it was $340 + $70 USPS postage to Australia

It is sooo much better than the stock seat   :-++ (well, it couldn't be worse...)

regards
