Professor
« on: October 22, 2018, 08:58:04 AM »
I've been riding since 1973. Started on a Suzuki 70 stepthru, and have had two other Suzies - 380GT and 550GT (triples). And there's been a few Hondas - CB175 in the 70s and then ST1100 (80k) including Iron Butt and around Australia, a 2002 Goldwing (50+ k) that my wife and I used for 44 US States, 5 Canadian provinces and all of NZ....then a lapse while we lived in Africa for a while followed by an ST1300 (80k) I bought new in Tennessee and has also done a bit of the US, NZ but lives in Sydney and a BMW K1200LT (40k) that my brother takes care of for me in NZ.

Welcome AKT4139.  No chance anyone will steal your forum name!
Lucky you having a bike in three countries. How often do you come to Oz?  Which cities do you keep the overseas bikes in?
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

My students at the Uni call me that though I try and dissuade them and give them Keith instead. But I like that it doesn't seem like a perfect fit on a bike. Kind of reminds me of the late Roger Freeth

Some other better collections that I have had here.

Live in Blue Mountains, keep the BMW in Whangarei NZ, and the Goldwing in the US moved around a little. It lived in Dothan Alabama for 18 months to enable the East Coast, in Salt Lake City, Utah to enable the whole middle section, and then in Gilroy California for the West Coast. Longest ride was Dothan Alabama via Vermont, Toronto, Chicago and Zion's National Park to Salt Lake City. Longest day two up on that ride was 1332 kms from Topeka Kansas to Grand Junction Colorado.

Welcome aboard AKT4139. Sounds like you have had some great rides in the States and other places. Hopefully, we can catch up on an OzSTOC RTE in the future.
