Good on ya Marcus.  We all envy your spare time...    :grin
At least there are none in Tassie or WA so most of us have a fighting chance without spending a fortune.
I've been to a lot in my lifetime, but will have to start collecting them on the ST.

There's a couple there that might prove difficult for an ST

Oodnadatta and Birdsville

Hmm.  Access by the "Oodnadatta Track" and "The Birdsville Track" off the "Diamantina Development Road".
Sounds like fun.

Anyone we know? :-) http://www.max.grenkowitz.net/?topic=811 (http://www.max.grenkowitz.net/?topic=811)  Not on an ST though but  :-++
Ghosty from FarRiders has done this as well.  Great stories from it.
Anyone want to borrow my KLR for Birdsville?

The way I read this he had one more town to visit in October 2010, I suppose he's done that by now.

Geoff Mack didn't have much sense of direction, or perhaps he didn't let that get in the way of a good story.  This is my take on the Seymour to Darwin leg of the trip.

This assumes Lismore NSW, not Lismore VIC.

Is there a program or app that can plot the shortest route between a number of towns?

Google is my new best friend.  I found this trip planner.
http://www.drivingrouteplanner.com/index.php?page=step1_simple&transaction=route_planner_simple&PHPSESSID=e5fbbcfbf75ce431e05aff28b6cfc4cc (http://www.drivingrouteplanner.com/index.php?page=step1_simple&transaction=route_planner_simple&PHPSESSID=e5fbbcfbf75ce431e05aff28b6cfc4cc)

Enter start town, end town and up to 25 towns in between and you get this:
(http://i643.photobucket.com/albums/uu159/williamson_photos/Forum%20Inserts/SeymourtoDarwinv2_zps2be65637.png) (http://s643.photobucket.com/user/williamson_photos/media/Forum%20Inserts/SeymourtoDarwinv2_zps2be65637.png.html)
Approx. half the distance on original effort.

Latitude and longitude can be substituted for town names.

I suppose you could fart around with Google, with some trial and effort end up with the same.

Don't think you need to do Oodnadatta......he was on the way there......but never got there!!!!

Not by the end the song anyway....  :wink1

The chief difficulty is the roads look good to Google but might be a challenge "on the ground".  I'm not sure I'd like to go from Birdsville to Mt Isa on all those "development" roads.  Maybe in a very well equipped fourby with back-up.    :eek

FWIW I just tried my next weekend's FarRide route in Driving Route Planner and it hung saying it couldn't find a route between two of my towns.
Too bad, because it said it found my locations and had provision for stop-over times.
Back to Excel.

If you mark GinGin in WA then we get a mention in there as well. LOL...  can;t say to have been everywhere when leaving a great big side of the paddock like that open.

Probably just an east coast view of Australia since anything this side the Great Dividing Range used to be just wilderness......lol

Kevin Bloody Wilson had a song like that except the only place that he mentioned was Meekatharra, God only knows why you would want to go there.

Meekatharra, Meekatharra, Meekatharra, Meekatharra, Cue, Meekatharra, Jail, Meekatharra, Cue, Jail, I've been every where man.....

Oh looky

I've Been everywhere man - out back version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAD9OEGUIHY#)

I never knew he did it, the first time I heard the song was on the Rolf Harris TV Show.

A little further research shows that Rolf released his version in 1963 so entirely possible for both to be getting radio play back at the same time. Though I admit, well before my time.

Also Lucky had four versions. Australia, NZ, UK and he US on the same EP.

Well there you go mate, you learn something new every day!  I actually remember the first time Lucky Starr sung it on "Bandstand" (if I remember correctly that is) :grin
