Another enjoyable RTE done and dusted today. It was also great so see a few faces I hadn't seen for ages come out of the woodwork.
Only a short ride for me today. For a change I didn't depart in the dark. After riding back from Sevenhill in "white" rain on my first ever traversing of the northern connector I wanted to do it in daylight hours and see what the scenery looks like. It actually is brilliant, although I am not overly keen on the grooved surface. They are everywhere in Japan.
I came off the Expressway at Gawler Belt and rode into to have a lookout Gawler Aerodrome in Ward Belt. Gliders often take off from there but I guess today's weather wasn't glider friendly.
I don't think trains use this line at Gawler Belt.
From there it was a straight ride to Mallala. I was the first to arrive and went for a walk around town.
Notice anything different?
I've ridden past the monument at the main intersection and never noticed the brown sculpture on the blue curves was a map of Australia until I walked around it today, looked and this and thought "that looks like Eyre Peninsula", and subsequently looking down and recognising Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island and further down Tasmania. I then walked around it. They've got the whole country covered.
It's been quite a while since I have seen JB at an RTE. Pete too.
One of my instagram followers in the U.S. posted a picture of Krispy Kremes on her page a couple of days ago. Until then I thought they were only in Australia and upon mentioning that to her she said she didn't know they were global either. I stopped in Bolivar to get this picture to send to her.
Less than 200km for the day.
