Next Aldi m/c gear sale
« on: September 23, 2020, 08:12:38 PM »
Wednesday 30th sees some items of interest:
Reinforced jeans  $90
Gloves  $40
Helmets  $80
Socks:  $10
What you might call thermal underwear- tops and/or pants:  $20 each
Tank bags:  $40
Disk alarm locks:  $30
Bike covers:  $30
(all rounded up 1 cent- you know how marketing works.)

I especially like their socks, but I'm due for some new pants too.

I see there's no jackets this year, and also no women-specific gear, not that I want any myself... :p  :rofl

Oh, and it's on a Wednesday instead of the usual Saturday...  :popcorn

Thanks for the info Biggles.    I also need some new riding jeans, but have never had Aldi before.   What's your impression of them?

Pete, I have two pairs of the ALDI jeans, one pair is winter weight, the other normal weight.

I find that they are fine and well priced. Probably didn't need the winter ones, only worn them a few times. The other pair of jeans are fine all year round. They are both made for Europe, so fairly heavy.

Might line up for a tank bag myself.

,Looks like no boots either this time.

Dunno- will just have to try them on in the aisle since they don't have change-rooms.  Shillas' experience sounds positive.

I've never tried out Aldi socks as I'm more than happy with the "Bamboo" socks I currently wear... :grin
I like the fact that you can wear them for multiple days without washing and they don't stink...Great when you're on tour...  :whistle :rockon

Do you know if they're kevlar lined? I like the idea of that extra protection...

Yes, Kevlar lined, knee pads as well. Thigh pads seems hit & miss - had some with one pair, but not the other pair.

I'll be lining up in the morning for some socks and perhaps stuff for the young'n also. Have had the socks before, some have been difficult to slide on, tight and others have been great to slide on. Great in summer and winter, all act if they were compression socks that feel great in the boot. My feet have not smelled in the hottest of days nor on those long summer rides.

I was on the Aldi doorstep this morning for a new pair of riding jeans, and was able to get a some.     When I tried them on at home, the waist fit was fine, but the rest of the jeans looked like a had each leg in a wheat bag, so they went straight back for a no-fuss refund.   Cheap is not always best, and I'll off to the bike shops tomorrow to find a nice pair of riding jeans.

I contemplated going in on the way home from work today expecting the rain to be gone by mid day, but afret putting all the wet weather gear on decided to go straight home.  If only it was saturday like Rusty suggested.

I went in for the disk lock - it appears they haven't been delivered.

I never bothered making the trip to Aldi...
I've looked at their jeans previously and I always thought you'd have to have legs like tree trunks to fill out the trouser legs... Lol. Sounds like the design hasn't changed...  :||||

The pants, gloves and disk locks failed to arrive in Brisbane.  Lots of helmets, tank bags, socks etc.

Called into Aldi at Warragul this arvo...
They had a few things left, mostly socks, tank bags and a few pairs of undergarment pants & tops.
Oh, and a solitary pair of motorcycle gloves...which just happened to fit me...well, like a glove...  :grin
I took that as some kind of omen so I bought them... :thumbs

The undershirts were too small for me, got a pair of pants and 2 pair socks. Not a very big selection..

I went there yesterday saturday morning.  Like Brock said not a huge selection left but bought some socks and some gloves.  An impulse buy also saw me walk out with some cashews.

I've polished off a few of them now.  I wouldn't want them to get rusty.
