National Rally Route, and when is everyone leaving
« on: January 12, 2012, 06:57:07 AM »
Hi All,
As the National rally date draws near I was wondering when the other Qld Ozstoc members were planning to leave, and what route they had in mind to get there?

I will know whether Marissa will be able to come with me by the end of this week, so will confirm bedding this week. Due to work commitments we are planning on leaving Brisbane eithe Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning, and come home on the Sunday.

What do the other Qld members have in mind?

Cheers
Barry and Marissa  :)  :)

I can leave and return on any date............Easter hols. I may take a detour on the way home and go out to Cowra/Grenfell to see family.
As for the route down....Lismore to Grafton via the summerland way, Glenn Innes, down the New England h'way to Singleton,Putty rd, bells line of rd, then across to Mt Victoria then Blackheath. I intend stopping overnight somewere along the way.
I could meet up with any Queenslanders who want to go the same way at either Lismore or Grafton.
Cheers

Tipsy, How come the map shows your destination as Heathcote, rather than Blackheath? Do you know something we dont know??

Hi,

We haven't worked out an exact date yet but for us it's an overnight run so I'm thinking on leaving on mondayafternoon/tuesday morning and arriving thursday afternoon

http://g.co/maps/3fxxf

and leaving sunday morning via a slightly longer route.

I added the required fuel stops to the maps above and entered it into the GPS. On the 2nd map points A and H needed to set the route in GPS...lol. Plus it's more a touristy thing on the way home with seacliffe bridge etc.

There's some indecision as regards to either going via Mudgee or Bathurst from Dubbo.  Bathurst is tempting just 'cause we can run the 1100 around the race track, but I've done that on my old CX 500 Turbo many years ago.

Singleton, Putty Road and then Bilpin into Blackheath would be a bit more interesting. You will want to do it again on the way back.

10 hours on a 1300 is easy. Nice amount of room and comfort all round.

Hi Laurie
Looks a good ride to me. I'll be doing this one solo after Marissa decided against going yesterday. If its Ok, I'd like to ride with you from Lismore and will plan on riding to Lismore on the Wednesday afternoon, so we can get away Thursday morning. I'll probably ride back on the Sunday.
Cheers

Cool Laurie. I'm looking forward to doing the ride with you.  :thumbs

Marissa was keen to go, but we are doing a fairly big ride over the Easter long weekend with Hilary and Elsha (the couple we went to Byron with). We only realised the other day that the Ozstoc Rally is on the weekend after the Easter long weekend. So Marissa wasn't as keen to back up and do another long ride.

It also meant we would need to ride back to Brisbane in one day on the Sunday so she'd be back for work Monday. We're both kind of over doing 10 hour days these days.

Anybody coming through Tamworth there is a spare bed at my place. Plan to leave Friday morning going to Muswellbrook, Rylstone, Lithgow, Blackheath. Total 431km according to Google, so easy ride. :bl11
