Title: Iphones and Safari
Post by: Brian on October 11, 2012, 12:45:26 PM
Hi all,
Yesterday evening I had problems with both my Iphone and Ipad using their browser Safari.... when trying to get to the Ozstoc homepage both gave me the message 'too many redirects' I've cleared the cookies cache and reset the history ...........has anyone else experienced this problem?
Cheers Brian

P.S. this only happened when trying to open Ozstoc all other sites I tried worked as usual

I had a similar problem for a while yesterday using Firefox on my desktop machine, although I could get to the site by using my iPad. Firefox was telling me that the site was trying to redirect my access request in a way that could never resolve. Waited a couple of hours and all was good,  :CB--

I thought maybe the 'Brockman' put the site on 'pause' so he could answer the call of nature.......

yes, but with windows 7. We have two win 7 pc here, one 64 bit version and the other 32 bit.

My partner running vista on laptop has no issues. My Galaxy tab has no issues connecting either.

I have restored both PCs and can access the forum and unread posts on this one (64bit) and I'm running explorer 9 on this one but I've had to clear the cache to do it.
My own PC (32 bit) with explorer 8 will get me to the home page and links to the forum works but unread posts takes me back to the home page.

I did have explorer 9 on mine but rolled back to 8 just in case it was an explorer 9 issue. It's not so now I'm thinking it's a WIN 7 issue since Vista and and galaxy tab (android) are working.

Usually if a web site is unavailable you'll get a message but with this it was trying to look for "ozstoc.com.au" and not "ozstoc.com"
Brock mentioned the server going down via the ozstoc facebook page and if that's the case then there still might be some issues to be fixed.

We actually own www.ozstoc.com (http://www.ozstoc.com), and www.ozstoc.com.au (http://www.ozstoc.com.au) for that reason, i would say that it was having a life moment, if it happens again please let me know straight away.

our providers are very keen to keep us happy  :thumb

Me knowing nothing would have probably just cleared the cookies from Google and from Ozstoc?as well as setting in options if using Firefox in the privacy tab, select the "Use custom settings for History"
But then again I'm one of them people that know nothing and believe APPLE IPhones,  the Ipad and Safari are junk. Oh so very trendy but junk
But remember I know nothing

There is something weird still happening.

The iphone was having trouble up until about 5 minutes ago.

Internet Explorer won't see the site at all (infinite loop re-directing)

Chrome hasn't stopped working yet.

The common symptom (IE and Safari) is the .com.au domain, seems to get stuck in the re-direction.  Maybe a nameserver issue?  I reason this as I can copy a link into IE or safari  (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?action=unreadreplies (http://ozstoc.com/index.php?action=unreadreplies)) and it works fine, however type www.ozstoc.com (http://www.ozstoc.com) into IE/safari  it re-directs to the .com.au name and loops.

I'm now back on my PC and this morning I had this same issue on here but I could link to any page/post via the history function but the moment I hit unread messages it would take me to the home page.

Clearing the cookies out seemed to improve it but removing history as well meant I had to log in again and since then it has worked. So it's quite possible it's caused by a corrupted cookie file

I had the same problem yesterday. Google Chrome gave the too many redirects message, and IE just st there looping away. I am getting to prefer Chrome as faster with great standard features without the need for heaps of slow add ons.

Saaz, I've tried Chrome, and Opera and Firefox and I like Firefox the best, it is fast responsive and reliable, so much better than IE which I wouldn't use at any time for anything unless I absolutely had to, then it gets turned off. IE has more holes that a Swiss cheese! it's a huge, clunky agricultural piece of junk which no-one should have to use.

My sis runs Firefox and the last time I had an attempt at using was when I last saw her in Sept 2010. I bought my new PC in Perth at the same time and during set up was asked to go to IE 9. So I did.........for 5 mins. I couldn't find anything in it's usual place (same as firefox in that reguard) I so rolled back to IE 8. Been using it until 3 weeks ago until I decided to give IE 9 a fair go.

This morning after years of prompting from google I installed Chrome to see what that's like. IE 9 is still my default browser and I can use either one at the moment

If you want a situation where you can't find anything and nothing works right try Windows 8 on a desktop  machine...Ii's so amazingly DREADFUL that it is hard to put into words!!!!! When MS stops supporting Win 7 I'm migrating to Linux, at least you get to control some of the things it does!  :CB--

Whizz, it's the standard Microsoft Software Development Life Cycle.....

It Works -> It's Cr@p -> It Works -> It's Cr@p -> It Works -> It's Cr@p -> It Works -> It's Cr@p ->

We are up to It's Cr@p.....

"WOW"didn't think Win 8 was going to released till October 26th???????
Suppose I could by an Apple product but none of the stuff I own will talk to it, Touchscreen Desktop, HP mini laptop. Alienware 17"laptrop and the other stuff so I suppose its just a wait and see??????
Just thrown the Iphone I was given to try :think1 in the bin and gone back to my HTC Desire, cause it works :thumbsup

Oh and all the stuff on this thread I havn't had a problem with in relation to the site??????? Kinda think its really an issue with the Cookies storage? But I'm not an expert
