Hi ST2UP,
You get marks for that question about the lights.
The answer is I have two ST's  ,and when I brought the second bike ,it was a  ex police model it had the one pair of over the mirror light brackets. so I purchased one pair of lights and fitted one of each to each of the rides.
Now here is the most important fact (item),
As I do not need to ride at night and have no intention of doing so, Mainly because of the prolific kangaroo wildlife here I have not even bothered to wire in the lights so that they will work.
Also I believe that with supplementary, (extra), lighting on a motorcycle Mr. Plod requires that the extra lights must be fitted in a symmetrical pattern in regard to the main driving lamps.
Therefore by not having the light operational I can avoid getting pinched and having to purchase some tickets to the next police ball.
Hope that is a satisfactory answer.
If I did embark on some protracted touring and long distance riding  entailing some night work please rest assured , both lights would be fitted properly and be operational for the exercise.
Cheers to all, Winston 66, Northampton

I think the rule about the lights having to be in pairs has been removed in most states now. The rapid uptake of LED light bars has caused a bit of a problem for this law and some over zealous cops used it as an excuse for nipping people when they couldnt find anything else so they either removed the law or advised the coppers not to prosecute on it.

You are correct Cravenhaven, however I do think the intention with single LED's Bars is that they be mounted in the centre. Having the one driving light on one side of the bike may still provoke a negative response.

If it's fitted it is supposed to be operational.
