1990 ST1100 (VIN 8LM000001) finally going again
« on: February 19, 2019, 10:19:20 PM »
Hi all
after many years have finally got my 1990 ST1100 running again. Bought it as a repairable writeoff about 5 years ago and kept putting off the repairs due to work commitments and other projects. Still have a few jobs to do prior to licencing it, painting panniers and LH crash bar cover.

Would welcome any history on this bike as it must have been a very early arrival in Australia.

I am based in Kendenup WA, about 70km north of Albany. My mob is 0412 059 200. Feel free  to give me a call
Cheers
Steve

More info here https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-st1100-1990-l-australiakph_model4721/partslist/#.XGwJ43KP6Uk

I'm guessing the one you have is either a pre sale demo model or the one used for type approval

Looking at those frame numbers you've got a collector's item there.  Well done getting it going again.  Welcome to the Forum.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Got a reply from Honda MC Aust today.

I quote from their email "Honda Australia can advise the ST1100, VIN JH2SC26U8LM000001, was imported into Australia for Government type of approval. The bike would have been used for demonstration type purposes and then would have been sold as a demo."

Looks like you were on the right track 'alans1100' thanks

It has got about 95000km on the clock so a few owners have got many miles of riding out of her between then and now. Will have to pull my finger out and get it inspected and licenced so I can get out there as well.

Cheers to all and thankyou
Steve
