Title: Latest MC Cruise Control for ST1300
Post by: West Aussie Glen on August 17, 2017, 02:02:10 PM
Have just got off the phone from Frank at MC Cruise.
The CC for the 1300 now comes with electronic servo and a wiring harness to pick up the speed sensor. No more pickup on the rear wheel  :thumbs
AND about to be released ( probably within days) is the version which will allow it to act as a speedo healer.
So now waiting on an email from Frank to confirm the speedo healer function before I order one.
This will be stage 1 of setting the ST up to ride to the 2018 rally.
Stage 2 will be a stereo and stage 3 most likely a new seat.

I'm interested to know how much is UPGradeable on my CC. I have the updated firmware installed.

I was aware that the Electronic Servo had been released and am assuming it can be retrofitted.

The electronic controller goes on the opposite side of the bike to the vacuum controller.  If you already have the original CC the electronic controller's cable should just pop into the link-case (unless they updated the link-case' as well).
From my experience with the V-Strom electronic CC, you gain a much more precise operation of the throttle. Plus, of course, you don't run the risk of pinching the vacuum line, which was the bane of my existence on Ruby.  Somehow the route it took made it vulnerable to being pinched, especially by the seat.

Had another chat to Frank this morning.
They do offer a 5% discount for OzSTOC members and other than a slight saving in freight there is not much to be gained by organising a bulk order.
As soon as the speedo healer option is sorted I will be ordering one.
Frank is going to summarise the options for retrofitting the speedo healer to existing MC Cruise controllers in an email to me and I will post it here. It will involve taking the speed signal from the speed sensor and not the rear wheel.

Below is  apart of a document Frank sent me re electronic actuators.

The MCS574 vacuum actuator/servo that has been used on MotorCycle Cruise Controls cruise
control kits for the last 17 years is no longer available. The manufacturer stopped production of the
actuator in 2014. MotorCycle Cruise Controls purchased several hundred from the last production
run. They are now all sold.
In the meantime the new MCS850 Electric Throttle Servo was developed by MotorCycle Cruise
Controls and now used instead on all new cruise control models.

I fitted a McCruise vacuum controlled version back in 2013 and did not use the rear wheel magnet pickup but used the speedo pulse option, I already had fitted a speedo healer which works really well.

I took the speedo pulse option because of experience of watching some of the expert tyre fitters out there and could see the need for always adjust the magnetic pickup.

The McCruise has always worked well for me, I had looked at, and would have preferred, the elelectric activator but McCruise had not developed one at that stage.

Should say that the speedo pickup does not work with the ST110 bikes for obvious reasons however one could fit a bicycle stye speed pulse sensor.

CC makes long distance riding a little easier . . MCC make a quality, reliable product . .

Some CC makers do have an option to fit a speed sensor on speedo cable rather than use magnets but MC Cruise has never explored this option.
