Title: Fuel/exhaust smell
Post by: Andrew_02ST on November 21, 2015, 07:36:40 PM
Howdy,

My '02 ST1100 frequently has a fuel/exhaust smell for some time after shut down... Is this normal? I've heard mention of fuel vacuum valves or something similar that may leak? I park her in the same place in the garage and haven't noticed a fuel leak as such.

Is there a how to guide someone can help me with to check? Or is it a mechanic job?

Cheers.

It could be fuel vapour vented from the tank.

Check it NOW before it catches fire like mine did.

My dad would get us kids with this one while out in the Ol FC Holden...... Can anyone smell petrol??
So we'd all start sniffing the air ........ Until we realised Dad had dropped an air biscuit ..... Bastard!!

The return fuel rubber hose has been known to leak when perished and it leaks onto the alternator, make sure you check it
