I think we should have numbers. Not as a form of Hierarchy but just to give members an idea of how long other members have been members eg If someone asks a question about something, some members MAY think, "We covered that problem about XX months ago, why bother answering it again?".
If a member number was attached to their name, as in our STOC numbers, it would give people an idea of their length of membership and either answer the question or refer them to a certain post etc.
I can see where Tipsy's coming from, I've had a 'Regimental Number' for the past 39 years, but so long as you're not being referred to as simply '5874' I can't see any problem. And by the way, I'm not advocating being referred to, as in my case, Roper5874, that was a name of my choosing. Most members are aware that my name is Dave and refer to me as such or they call me roper.
Is it really that important? I've NEVER received an answer on STOC referring to me as a 'Newby' or told to shut up because I've only been a member since Breakfast time. Other members have told me that, this or that was resolved/answered, previously and steered me in the right direction.
FURTHER:- I don't think Diesel or Streak should have numbers, they should be numberless as, to my knowledge, they both had an equal part in getting this great group of
I am TRULY sorry that I will not be able to attend the Inaugural Get-together ( BROCK's not the only person going to Thailand at that time ) but I sincerely wish you all the very best at the gathering and hope that I will be able to attend the next one.

It's not a Big Brother Number like your car licence, Tax File or Passport. (Your Tax File Number is the one The Gummint knows you by, you probably realise).
It's part of being a member, and it shows your "experience" in the Forum. My FarRider number is an achievement, but my STOC number (which others include in their signature) just shows I've been around.
Don't tell Tipsy his- he doesn't want it.
You could give Number One to both the Founding Fathers and have no 2, just 3 etc. :thumbsup

It took a while for me to get my head around what diesel and graham where up to, boys playing with toys and stuff....
But seeing graham proud as, and paying compliments to everyone who has been involved in getting Ozstoc to where it is now, I am smiling to, anyone would have thought he had won lotto :runyay
I have some great friends from here, and it makes sense of all the "babe I love you, can you quickly go and post this for me" and the late night phone calls with Diesel, Marianne and I were sure they where going to elope at one point!
Hope the next 500 is as much fun as the current 500 we have :p

Our goal in the early days was to open up a friendly community, based around our STs whereby owners, riders and their families could jump online and log in to a fun, informative, friendly site, and furthermore - go ride their bikes to meet up with newly made friends over lunch - or overnight!
We couldn't have imagined how well OzSTOC has progressed to date. A big thanks has to go to our Mods and henchmen - Brock and Saaz, as without their help, our jobs would entail many more hours each day. Well done men. :clap :rockon
More thanks goes to our favourite passengers too, as you are the driving force in our lives and make our ST riding experience all the better.
Streak and I often envisaged the day we might get 500 registered members, and talked about how we can keep the forum and community exciting. Whilst we may be on the 'spanners', this site is almost on cruise control now because of the quality of all whom are patrons of OzSTOC.com - YOU! :thumb
You people make our job waaay easier in your friendly and jovial nature, combined with the depth of knowledge and experience that each of you bring on different subjects. We are truly a sum of our parts. Your posting of pics, stories, invitations to RTEs all make this a great little family to be part of - be proud of this. :thumbs

I spent 6 years on School of the Air Years 1 and 2 in Mt Isa, and grades 3-6 out of Longreach, was one heck of an experience, and it is a really good compaison Biggles, same sort of feeling although i cant blame dad using the Drop saw in the shed as to why i didnt hear something :crackup

Yes, we left the forum open for everyone to read, but we like to keep the forum active, we have done several clean outs over the last couple of years, we are not deleting "members" as such but just taking out the people who do not wish to be actively involved with the club.
It's nothing bad, just making sure the house is nice and clean :thumb

...Little confused :o...l thought membership was based upon owning and having an interest in the Honda ST's? You can easily read what is going on without neccessarily needing to log on to a forum.
I still catch up with a couple of Guys who (as far as l know), have never logged onto this forum and still have their ST's and who I'd consider are still OzStoc members from 1997.

Yes, we left the forum open for everyone to read, but we like to keep the forum active, we have done several clean outs over the last couple of years, we are not deleting "members" as such but just taking out the people who do not wish to be actively involved with the club.
It's nothing bad, just making sure the house is nice and clean :thumb
Members don't have to put posts up like Biggles 8,000, they don't even have to say anything
But it would be good if they log on occasionally so that we know they are still around
When I do the "Birthday wishes" if I see someone hasn't been on OzSTOC for a couple of years I PM them a Birthday wish :Cake2

The numbers are never 100% correct as people remove themselves, get deleted, or we have to take out the odd spammer, so the exact number would vary over time GOF54 as the forum does not keep separate numbers forc each person as such.

You were actually the 1135th person to join. As Streak said, lots of people leave for various reasons, so the number allocated doesn't mean there are that many active. ST2UP's count is the ones currently recognised by the Forum.
For very early joiners (before people left etc) their number has a bit more significance.
