Title: Starcom advance
Post by: Brian on March 06, 2016, 07:10:46 AM
Before I sold my grey ghoST I removed the Starcom System placed it in one of those cloth shopping bags and put it in the helmet/jacket cupboard.
The schWING came with its own oem Comms system so the Starcom stayed untouched for just over three years until circumstances brought me back to another ST.
Unfortunately the outer sleeve on the wiring has become what I can only describe as brittle and breaks apart.
So if, like me, you have stored your Starcom or other unit juST in case you may use it again you may wanna rethink that and flick it off on eBay.
In my case I've renewed the headsets through DMME thanks to Dale and am now chasing up another lead ( pun intended)
Cheers Brian

You could try finding some heat shrink tubing (Jaycar) , that will just go over the plug

Remove the rest of the damaged outer sheath, and fit the heat shrink (cut to length). Heat with heatgun until it shrinks down completely. It should now look like new.

I did consider that option only I didn't think it would shrink that much (ie to get over the plug as well)

Self amalgamating tape may be an option.
