Have been thinking about an occasional mid week lunch run for the retirees in WA plus maybe the FIFOs.
The next dates for me would be either Wednesday 14th or Thursday 15th May (modified to also fit with Gavos roster). So much for being retired no time between now and then.
Thinking about the Bakers Hill Pie Shop.
Anybody interested?
Gavo how does this fit with your roster?
-
Date above
Those dates are second week of work
12 to 16th are week days home
Dates revised.
-
I reckon I could be up for it.
-
Hardly worth the 3km ride into town but if I have the day off I will wonder down. :wht13
-
Gavo, have you changed swings then?
:wht11
-
So can we work on Wednesday 14th?
-
I can do 14th
-
I couldn't decide between 12.00 and 12.30 so lets make it 12.15 at the bakery on the 14th.
-
Unfortunately I have to pull out, have to get my g/son to Charley Gairdner for 1030.
-
No worries Brian, family first, trust it is nothing too serious.
-
Just a reminder come for a coffee, pie and chat, 12.15 at the Bakers Hill Pie Shop 14th May, i.e. next Wednesday

If my bike is back together by then it sounds life a good test run.
-
Pezz,
Is it still coming apart? How did you end up on Sunday?
-
Apart. Belt and clutch done. Broke bolt on clutch basket so need to source then stem head bearings and cooling hoses to go. Should be OK so long at I can source bolts and a couple of other things. Honda shop say ex Japan at 3-4 weeks. Pretty standard bolts though. Will take sample to Venables or A&M tomorrow. Waiting to hear back from prestige Honda.
-
Pezz,
I completely pulled a Nissan Pulsar apart and have a bucket full of metric bolts, what do you need?
Searles in Willetton ( http://www.searlefasteners.com.au/ (http://www.searlefasteners.com.au/) ) also have great range of nuts and bolts. They are close to me so if you needed anything picket up during the day I can do that for you.
-
Hi Glen, thanks for the offer but all sorted for now.
I had a chat with STreak about those vests and I think tomorrow when I am back on PC instead of phone I will make a thread about shipping stuff to Perth so we can all save on freight.
-
Good idea Pezz, doesn't make sense for all of us to pay individual postage.
-
Just a reminder come for a coffee, pie and chat, 12.15 at the Bakers Hill Pie Shop 14th May, i.e. next Wednesday
Time for another mid week run to Bakers Hill. Anyone up for one on Wednesday 10th Sept?
(Gavo I assume you are home again on the 10th?)
edit Now the 17th to line up with Gavos roster.

Only a small turn out of 5, I think lunch was enjoyed by all, certainly by yours truly, one of the best burgers I have had in a looooong time.
Glen has the only pic.

Gee another hard day at the office. Yesterday the ST was washed, fueled and tyre pressures set so this morning it was a case of being on the bike a little before 9.00 and heading for Bakers Hill Pie Shop. Arrived about 10.00 after a nice easy ride along Roe and then the Great Eastern H'way. Picked up 4 lentil pasties for Theresa and had a lamington and choc milk for morning tea. Knowing that a pub lunch was next resisted the temptation of a pie.
After a chat with another bike rider who was on his way to Northam set of for the back roads to York and then on to Greenhills. A couple of ks east on the Great eastern H'way to Clackline and then a really nice (as in road surface) country road through to Spencers Brook. This continued towards York where the road went to average right at the welcome to York Shire sign. Then several ks of road works where the surface was often newly laid road base i.e gravel. On through York to Greenhills including a lovely fragrant section past a piggery.
I was still deciding where to park and when Gavo and Brom arrived followed shortly after by Yorkie who I noticed didn't mention anything about his eventful start to his day in the post above. Craig arrived just in time to place his order with us for lunch. A great hamburger for me.
I had then had to skip out early just as desert was being offered and had a quick run home until I caught up with the start of peak hour traffic, also a little hot with some areas of 34 and some 36 degrees. A total of 285 kms
Our lunch setting

Should have been ridin :grin
:wht11
-
Like Wombat i too was envious when reading Glens description of both ride and lunch, well done to Brian on getting back in the saddle so soon after his op, (though i bet he doesn't think it was soon enough!!) I hope everyone i have met at Ozstoc has a great Xmas and a safe riding New Year and i look forward to catching you in 2015.
Cheers Chris :hat wave :blk11
-
The incident referred to by Glen happened as I left the cave and put the side stand down whilst I closed the cave entrance, as the door came down I heard a crash and found the ST having a lie down, don't know if I didn't put stand down properly, it slipped on the gravel or I moved it as I got off, resulting in smashed l/h mirror, cover and indicator, none of this was stopping me from 1st ride in 3 months so I rode an unroadworthy ST and enjoyed it.
-
You really hate that left side right now don't you?
-
For those of you who can get off during the week the next WA mid week lunch ride Thursday 12th Feb to Spencer's Brook Tavern.
See you there.
-
In my diary and looking forward to catching up with everyone in the New Year. :hatwave

Cheers Chris :blk13
-
How about work on leaving the Caltex at 10.45, leaves a bit up our sleeve for 12.00 at Spencers Brook but I have Grand father duties starting at 3 in Willetton.

Hi Glen, i have a commitment earlier that morning, if i can't make it by 10.50 please go on with out us, as we won't be to far behind you.
Cheers Chris
-
Will do Chris.

I met Mitch at the Midvale Caltex and we had a pleasant run up to Spencer's Brook with about 6 spots of rain and two stoppages due to road work. We arrived just after 11:45 to be met by a big sign saying closed, no entry. As Mitch and I started to think oh dear, the publican came around the corner and opened up for us. Turned out that they open at 12.00.
To get things moving Mitch and I ordered a drink and lunch and then headed for the outside seating area to be welcomed by Mr and Mrs Drake and the family.

Just then the rest of the crew started to arrive firstly Gavo, Brom and Matt followed by Hoffy then Chis and Jen and finally Yorkie.

Think everybody enjoyed the lunch, it was certainly the best hamburger bun I have ever had.
With grandfathers duties looming I started the move for home which sorted broke up the gathering and saw me arriving home just in time to swap 2 wheels for 4 and pick up my granddaughter as school finished.
A couple of hundred kms on the ST, some good company and great food, what more can a man ask for.
-
Looking at Grass Valley tavern on 4th Mar for the next.
-
I leave for Toowoomba on the 7th so providing I am all ready for that trip I should be fine for the 4th.
-
Just then the rest of the crew started to arrive firstly Gavo, Brom and Matt followed by Hoppy then Chis and Jen and finally Yorkie.
Nope, can't recall HOPPY, he must have left with the tractor carrying the big bail of hay.
It was a very good run apart from the road works and I must admit, I wasn't feeling too comfortable with the heat, not a breath of wind for the entire trip but it gave me a chance to listen to the smooth running of the bikes motor.
Mitch, you lost me when you split lanes on the Tonkin Hwy, those cars looked a bit too close together for my comfort.
Very picturesque location great food and good to meed a couple of new faces and catch up to the other ones.
I will see if I can make the next on.
Regards
-

Unfortunately when it was time to commit some rain arrived at Gavos end of the world but the weather was kind to Mitch and myself so we had a pleasant lunch in Beverley.
Mitch gave his "ST1200" an outing on some dirt back roads and I did the Beverley York loop with a couple of drops of rain on the way and then a down pour about an hour AFTER I arrived home.
-
