Have an RJs tourtech flip top with integrated dark visor.

Real handy going through the front gate security at work

Yeah Brock - samesies!

It's a great lid - I like the idea of not having to swap out visors or reach for sunnies etc - but she is a little noisy, and the ratchet on my aviator shade isn't working too well.

This is probably commensurate with the purchase price though.

I hear the Shoe Multitec and the Shark Evoline are two gooduns - might look into it when the time comes.

Any other opinions on helmets?

RJays Tour Tech TSS (with integral sunnies), in pearl white to go with the white ST1100 (and my flouro vest top that I have over the leathers).

Not sure why I like this combo.

Keep Smiling
Mark

P.S I also have a full face Shoei, cost me the price of more than two of this one, and that has about the same noise for me, though I do have a little "ringing in the ears" from my early days as a sparky working in textile mills and foundries in the UK. I have been putting the wind noise down to the standard windsheild on the Police ST1100. Had thought of getting another one from David Silver Spares (the one that is 5 inch taller), comes in a fair bit cheaper than the ones made in Thornlie WA (Eagle screens). But I am happy to live with it for now.
I have however noticed quite a bit of difference to wind hitting my delicate hands, after fitting a pair of Honda Wind Deflectors. Well worth the $16 cost.

Mark,
What ever you do, dont paint your topbox white, and dont fit the police light horns and spotties.

People will get you confused with me  :)

As it is, there is another white ST1100 that I cross paths with on neaves rd every day, with a very similar fit out to me (including fluro vest.)

This is me:

At least having the black top box will keep us looking individual. As you can see, I am going out of my way to ensure that my bike and I look unique on the road (Because I have wind deflectors above my mirrors. Without them, the bike would look a bit like an ex Police model)  :)

I've had the Nolan N102 flip up as well as the Zeus and they have both suffered from wind noise. I always use earplugs on long rides to reduce the noise and keep me sane.

Well, - - until two Saturdays ago, I had a BMW System 5 Flip-up helmet. Nice bright, shiny red one - only used it for three weeks total from new.
Saturday 17th September, 10:45am. I was on my way to the travel agency to put my new passport photos in for a visa for my up-coming holiday to Viet Nam.
Didn't make it.   :(
Riding along Albany Hwy into Perth, this stupid, young, dumb, blond IDIOT woman traveling the opposite direction, turned right across my path then stopped blocking the lane I was traveling in.
Result - broken ribs on my RH side, huge bruise on my right hip and shoulder, one BMW helmet totally written off - the right side from the visor back, has been smashed in and after spending all those months re-building my ST1100 - another $3,000 - $3,500 (PLUS) worth of replacement of panels, painting, etc. - - AGAIN !
Holiday put back until the start of December - if I am fit enough to travel by then.   :'(

And another new helmet   :'(  :'(  :'(

Now all I have to do is find a way to nicely ask the WA Police Accident people if they will be so kind as to charge that stupid  . . .   >:(

Any advice from members of our happy little group, who could give me advice about how to go about doing this would be REALLY appreciated.   :-++
But I AM Napoleon I tell you !
Where am I now that I need me ???
ALL others on the roads are idiots - ride accordingly !

Flip

If you message him, I think that roper5874 (Look in members) may be the person to ask here about this (The accident procedures in WA). He may not answer straight away, I think he may be a shift worker.

Get better soon, and at least you survived the meeting with the young and dumb driver of the car.

Wow...........pleased you came out without severe damage to yourself Flip..................hopefully her insurance should cover all repairs to the bike including a new helmet and any damage to your clothing as well. I'm assuming she was insured!! If not..........I hope you are mate!!
Check with Roper, he's with the force!

Interesting Poll Diesel, I'm surprised that there are soooooooooo many wearing flip top helmets....................they do look really good, although I believe that they're heavier and noisier |-i than full face.

For me.....I'll stick with my Shoei full face  :thumb

Right you all are - in what's right for you. I'v found that Terry's recommended earplugs - of which I bought myself a pair - are the cat's pyjamas for keeping out any wind noise if you put them in properly.

They also have a wicked, thumpin bass to them. It has transformed my opinion of my (previously) noisy RJays Tour Tech.

I didn't even pull out my moulded earplugs for the Ironbutt Ride or FarRide.
