oil change - hot or cold?
« on: January 28, 2017, 12:12:11 PM »
I am about to change the engine oil and filter as well as finally changing the final drive oil.

is it better to remove the oils hot or warm or is it better to remove cold?

cheers

Warm is good, it thins the oil a bit, and allows a bit more to drain. Hot is not so good as the hands burn.

warm was GREAT!

the oil flowed like the murray river in full flood.

now ....another question.  I could not see in the manual I had exactly how much oil was needed in the final drive. It looked like about 150 - 200 ml but not sure.  Can anyone advise me?

Cheers

Its not a lot, I use a syringe to fill it, until its level with the fill hole lip.

Hadn't realised you are Oirish.
