Langers and I plan on leaving Border Village on Sunday morning for a leisurely three day ride home down the coast to Streaky Bay and Port Lincoln, arriving back in Adelaide on Tuesday arvo.   Anyone heading that way is most welcome to join us.   :thumb

There's a ferry from Luck Bay to Wallaroo but from the web site it looks like it doesn't run until September.  We'll be riding the long way round via Port Augusta.

In 2000 I caught the ferry across to Lucky Bay and ventured down to P. Lincoln Coffin Bay Streaky bay Ceduna then cack to Kimba...then home to Gympie,then..  I had been told the Walleroo Ferry ceased to run,, when I was planning Perth last year,,

Pete is correct - the ferry doesn't recommence until 22 September. This is the first year of service for the new ferry and they reckon it needs to go into dry dock for a full check. I went on it a couple of months ago and it was a great trip - worth the money ($50 for the bike and $35 for the rider) mainly because you get to rest rather than do the Cowell to Pt Wakefield (or vice versa) trip for the 53rd time (I lived in Pt Lincoln for 20 years - the first 45 times weren't too bad).

Having just driven across the paddock, east to west, thought I would give an update on road conditions:-
No major roadworks
Usual road kill between Border Village and Caiguna with only a few eagles.
Two dead camels, taken out by a truck, east of Norseman, and I think west of Balladonia
West of the water tanks near the Eyre/Lincoln H'way junction and probably before the Nutbush Retreat, about 2:00 pm, a full emergency stop was required to avoid a family of emus one of which fell over on the road in front of the car.
See you at the border.

Cheers.  I'm considering pushing for Ceduna so I can pass BV once and go to Eucla before turning back (just so I can say I've ridden the kwaka in Western Australia).  :grin

Thinking about my trips across the Nullabor I have arrived at Balladonia to find there were no credit facilities and at Madura to find the generator was u/s so no petrol. Just something to keep in mind when planning petrol stops.

With all my trips across there I've only ever stopped at the Madura lookout and Balladonia was an either an I will or won't stop.
I'd usually have enough fuel to run Norseman to Mundrabilla but I haven't been that way on the bike in a while.

Checked the bike on Saturday to make sure all the light were working. Glad I did as the RH high beam (unusual) had failed so I picked up a new globe on my way back from Snowtown this morning.

11:30 departure time for us.

Least the weather is somewhat better than yesterday for us. May or may not rain from looking at the cloud cover so we'll start off with wet weather gear on.

You might catch us up Pete as we should make Port Augusta about 1 pm for fuel at the truck stop.

I did think of you when I passed through near Port Pirie at 0700 and again at Minnipa later in the afternoon.  I arrived at Ceduna at around about 1500.  The wind between Minnipa and Ceduna was horrendous.  I had a bit of rain after having brunch at Kimba through to Wudinna.
