National Rally Pack contents 2018
« on: May 21, 2018, 02:54:59 PM »
Due to the minimal numbers attending National Rally this year we "MAY" be faced with a difficult choice.  |-i

Now our intension is to provide the same content and high quality items (Polo Style shirt, Pin & Patch) if it is at all possible because we believe that is what our members deserve, and the information based on a previous member poll.

But there exists a glitch in our plan....based on previous NatRally attendances, the decline in OzSToc forum participation, decline in members to RTE's, Tassie proposal for 2019 we estimated 2018 attendee numbers to be more than 50, but less than 70. Currently we are at 30 (Formally registered attendees).

Naturally the items in the rally packs are not off the shelf items and these are custom made and ordered for our attending members, so item costs are reflected directly by quantity ordered. This particularly pertains to the Rally Pin.

This poll is ultimately directed at those who have paid their registration fee for 2018 NatRally in QLD, but happy to hear comments please.

Shirt options in poll..... Polo with pocket and sublimation print (same as Wooli 2017) Vs. T-Shirt each other year

Thanks for your input

I've voted for T-Shirt, as I wear T-Shirts, and recognize that with minimal numbers, T-Shirts may be a simpler option.

I'm not currently planning on going to Mackay.

However, I would be interested in a Polo or T-shirt.  I suspect there may be others that think like me.   Additional numbers would help amortise costs and reduce some of the financial burden.

Pins are easily lost or broken.

If there had been the option for just the polo shirt, I would have voted for that.

I have done this too. Is it possible to know what the extra cost of packs with polo shirts would be. Is this an option. Or. Have simpler printing if the cost is too high.

I am one of them.  I am very happy with my Wooli shirt (even though I didn't get there until two weeks after the event) but would like a Mackay one too.

I am happy to pay extra for the pin - I think it will raise the cost from $7 for a pin to over $10

Normally I won't air my view on topics when we need to make a choice as a club......and here is why.

I find, not to blow the trumpet of the current or previous OzSTOC leadership team but I see what tends to happen is members will look at the opinion of the leadership member and think to themselves "well they know what's best, or they got us this far" so vote or recycle the opinion of that person.

So please don't vote based on my thoughts....take the info onboard and go with yours  :thumbsup

I based my vote on how I have used my OzSTOC Rally apparel in the past and into the future.

Shirts: My T-Shirts are worn often, but around the house, mowing the lawn and occasionally on the bike.....they have worn well, but are now faded, stretched, out of shape and some of the print is starting to peel away on the 2013 shirt. They are washed and thrown in the T-Shirt draw and heading to the end of their lives because of use.

The Polo Shirt with the sublimation print is hanging on a coat hanger with my better cloths, it's worn less than the T-Shirts....but when it is worn it is worn as a casual garment outside of the house, it seen by more ppl and commented on by more people, so I get to give them the OzSTOC spiel. i know that providing the new spinach and feta sausage rolls at the Bakery don't catch up with me that I will have that shirt to wear for many, many years to come.

The next might sting a bit considering my role in OzSTOC ....

Patches: Mine take pride and place in the bottom of my sock draw, while I will never throw them out, I will never do anything with them other than move them aside to get to my favourite pair of hole proof heroes.

Pins: In a draw with other bits of metal/ribbons and will never see the light of day or use....In fact I belive it was 2015 Rally that a member was devestated that they lost their pin from their cap at Toowoomba....so I gave them mine.

I'm always quietly watching to see how our members use the club products and how they are wearing.....and from my observations I can submit the following. I see more OzSTOC caps than anything else and many have the rally pins attached, along with a few jackets. I very rarely see the patches in use, however if members are ordering extra Rally items their are more patches ordered than pins.

I have a mate (rider) who's dad gave her a Pin from a bike rally he attended back in the late 50's and she was stoked to have this and pass it along through her future family, his jacket that had a few patches was also given to her.....they were faded and frayed and not able to be distinguished.

So think to the future is my vote......Polo and Pin.

But the majority from the poll will rule if we need to make a choice....anyone have a contact who what's to sponsor a bike rally  :rofl They will get a really cool Rally pack COMPLETE  :chocolate-box-smiley-emoticon

I'm a born collector, so I have all the patches on my OZSTOC jacket and the pins on my cap.
I do love my beautiful Wooli polo too, but recognise the economic stringencies, so would fall back to the Tee (which will only be worn that weekend, probably and join the other Tees in my drawer) so I could have the pin and patch.  I'm so mad about my set of patches that I ordered WAG's special products last year.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

I haven't registered as yet , but will be soon as I have booked a cabin , been organising my trip up , as for the apparel I  wear the T shirts mainly as bed wear , where the Polo top is worn outside and especially when on a ride , as for the patches and pins , the patches go on a Ozstoc vest and the pins on my Ozstoc jacket and I have had two separate couples from America who were very interested in the pins on the jacket.

I must admit that my usage of shirts, pins and patches, matches Chris’, so the most important to me is the Polo Shirt . . The rest are extras that I am happy to pay for so as to make the overall package cheaper for those who use the lot.

Cheers

I voted for polo and pin.  (If there was a shirt only option that would have been the vote)   personally for the cost of the rally pack I would happy to get just the polo shirt.   (Like the Wolli shirt)
The business that paid for advertising on the T shirts missed out badly as Navgirl and my bed are the only ones that see them .
My Wolli shirt has been seen by thousands from Qld,NSW,Vic,SA & all over Tassie
On many occasions total strangers have said to me that is a nice shirt where did you get it . So now there are a lot of people that know about OzStoc ( and it was amazing how many of these strangers after mentioning ST said I had one or so & so has one  ) and quite a lot said gee will have to check out this Wolli place when we head north again
In hindsight I should have ordered a second Wolli shirt   Yes you guessed it I got a stain on it   :fp that the stain remover Navgirl is not happy about  :well
Just my thoughts but will be happy with the majority vote
Have a great day everybody     COME ON MACKAY

I wear the Polo Shirt and the pin and patches sit in the draw with all the others so not so important to me
If the vote is to get them I would happily put in with others

my 2cents , I wear the rally T's on rides mostly and around the house even to bed. I find the collar on the Polo underneath my jacket and heated liner is too much around my neck, but I love the pocket for ear plugs.... I've worn it out with family though and agree PPL see us
I have my pins on 1 of my OzSTOC caps, I think it may have been me you gave a Toowoomba pin to. I love PINS.
Patches I keep also I found they didn't stay stuck on my OzSTOC jackets but eventually I'll put em on an old clothe vest and hang over my jacket when it gets retired.

If push came to shove i would gladly do without everything.
As others have more eloquently put it, at the end of the day it's about the friendships made with members from all far flung points of the country.

I can recall a member in Perth that commented after the rally had been and gone that he didn't attend because he sold his bike. He lived about 10  :cuss minutes away from the location in swan valley. I remember thinking at the time how utterly silly that was.

If extra money is needed to get whatever level of accoutrements decided over the finishing line then i will be happy to donate extra.

I'd agree with the aforesaid Evel- as a patch and pin pusher I'd be prepared to pay a modest extra amount if that was needed to get it over the line.  However non participants shouldn't be expected to subsidise them.
