Tyre sizes
« on: February 26, 2019, 05:00:22 AM »
G’day guys, I’m currently (over) due for a new set of tyres for my ‘94 ST1100 and wouldn’t mind some opinions on sizing. Having looked back through past posts, I see I’m not the first to have trouble finding a 110/80 for the front, other than the slight speedo change (which is way off anyway) maybe adjusting the suspension, is there any reason not to run a more common 120/70 on the front?

I’ve currently got Bridgestone 023’s both front and rear, and have the 45’s on my other bikes, so I’ve had a pretty good run from them; Always open to new suggestions though! Being new to the area I’ll most likely get the new set fitted at RPM (thanks to the locals for that introduction!), but if there a local tyre dealer that has better prices, or online? Back in Getown I just went to Road & River, their prices were comparable to online at the time.

Thanks for the help, looking forward to some fresh rubber, now that my eldest is loving the bike it’ll be good to have a bit more confidence in what’s under us (last weekend, we need milk, boy says “We’re riding! I’m getting my gear!” ...I’m going to have to speed up my prep-game if we’re going to be doing last-minute dashes!)

Both 110/80 (1100) and 120/70 (1100A) sizes will fit either rim according to what I have seen on the Bridgestone T31 page.

https://www.bridgestone.com/products/motorcycle_tires/products/detail/pr141/

The GT spec is more suited for both STs but you'd have to use the 1300,s 170/60 rear as the GT tyre isn't available in 1100 sizes.

Most on here tend to run PR4 or the newer replacement and again you'll need a 1300 rear.

I have Dunlop Roadsmart three which is supposedly better but all tyre companies say that about there own tyres.
