Hi all im in need of a new rear tyre 170/60/zr/17
Whats a highly recomended tyre
I have a new michelin up front
Currently has a bridgstone Battlax on the rear that has worn very funny

I had the same issue with the Bridgstone that was on my bike when I bought it...

I'm currently running a Dunlop Road Smart 3 which is wearing much more evenly than the Battlax.
Mind you I have upped the tyre pressures since I've been running the Dunlop so that may be helping with the more even wear.

With a new Michelin up front, I think you've answered your own question.   In my opinion, and just to reaffirm Brock's and Nigel's (and likely a few other's views), Michelin is the way to go.  Probably only the PR6 GT is available now, but if you have a PR5 GT on the front, best to try and match that one.

Why GT?  The GT rating is for heavier bikes like the ST1300 at over 330kg. 

It's a bitch when the tyre wears funny.   Pressures?  Answers to my questions on here and other Forums re. the tyre wear shown in the pics, "too low", "too high", "you're towing a trailer" (which I hadn't been).  It can be very confusing, although I run 42 front, 44 rear solo, with a pillion and / or towing (which I do now from time to time).

Just a quick Comparision:    MICHELIN ROAD 6 - around $390.00 plus shipping.
                                         DUNLOP ROAD SMART 4 - around $320.00 plus shipping.

*Shipping cost is around an extra $20-25.00...

You could fit a GT 180/55ZR17 which is a slightly smaller diameter than the 170 but that will throw your speedo even further out than it is now...

I've just switched from Road Smart to Michelin Road 6.

If the claimed mileage on the Michelin's (from other forum members) stands up, the Michelin would be better long term value, despite the initial outlay.
