John Moorehouse modified 1300 seat(s)
« on: October 10, 2012, 01:06:38 PM »
Not sure where to put this so it's here.

I re-fitted my newly modified John Moorehouse seat(s) to my ST 1300 last night and whilst they look good, and feel good on my bum from just sitting on it, I haven't had time to go for a ride yet to see what they feel like on the road.

Here's a couple of pics of the two parts of the seat, both modified.

From comments from John and others it would appear that the seat(s) take about 1,000-1,500 to 'bed-in' and shape themselves to the posterior plonked on them, so I'll let you all know later how well this process goes.

Cheers,
Paul

It's interesting to see that he has built up the fronts of both seats.
It looks a lot more comfortable.

Yes, both the seats have the original covers, but I have found that the rear seat is very hard to fit because of the height of the front of the seat. I may have to take it back to him for mods...watch this space

You might have to "put" The seats together off the bike, then install as a one piece.

I've never tried to fit each seat separately.

How much did it cost for both seats?
And how long did he have the seats for?

Cheers

Hi Shiney,
$300 total and he had the seats whilst I was away on holiday, i.e. 2 weeks, however he did say that it would take a week to complete.

Malcolm,
I've not actually tried putting the seats on as a single unit, must give it a whirl and see how I go...I'll get back to you.
Cheers,
Paul

Mine was the very first ST1300 seat done by the Moorehouses, in late 2003. John was to do it but ended going on holidays, so got his brother to do it.   Photos elsewhere on this site.  I shifter the seat from my 2003 ST a couple of years ago to my 2008 ST.  It is still great after 160,000km.

See some pics and detain in this old thread:  http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=74.0

John Moorehouse fixed the seat on my first ST1100 and did a good job.
But MJM did a better job with the seat on my second ST1100 and a fantastic job on my ST1300 seat.

I should add that I asked him to only "fix" the front seat as I don't carry pillions and I'm thinking of putting an auxilliary fuel tank on/over the pillion seat in any case.
I was very specific about my requirements and showed him what I wanted done and it was all done to my specifications. It obviously helps if you can sit on the seat and show him your style of riding rather than just sending the seat to him.
