Love the fatty mags all the better to corner with!
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

At long last, what with moving house and settling in and all, i have finally been able to get a couple of pics done with the trailer 'finished'.
I do intend to paint the guards blue like the bike, but for now this is it.
Pictured here with the luggage box (4 wing nuts) and the very important esky (4 clips) attached!
I have also used it as a flat top with a 90cc quad on board, works well!

This tows and rides pretty damn good, have done about 500k with it now and also 160kph the other day and it just sits there saying 'bring it on buddy!'
Got to say tho.. watch the throttle when two up and trailering, man it sucks fuel if you are heavy handed... not bad when cruising at the speed limit tho!

cheers

Hey Leethal did you make your own tow bar also?  Looks a little different to the one I run, and similar to one I am looking at trying to get made which hides most of the bulk.

Any photos if you have changed the design would be good please.

Love the trailer too bloke.  Looks like many happy miles to be be had with the set up.

Hi Leethal,
That's scrubbed up very well indeed, and with a matching paint job, it'll go with your stunning bike really nicely.  I really like the idea using the flat-bed as a basis for a modular/adaptable trailer.     Well done, and see you at Middelton.

I just made a 25 x 25  x 3mm rhs bar that runs from the muffler mounts each side and behind the wheel, set high (just under the rear guard) with straps down from the top behind the panniers, then got my mate who does stainless (20 x 1.6mm tube) to do the bits you can see... pretty easy for the bit i did really. The ball is 1.7/8" which is USA and i'm not even sure it's legal here but no-one in SA cares. The coupling is 360 degree swivel, bought off Ebay from Hoosier Hitch USA (Charles VanHoy) but i can see it will take a 50mm pressed steel trailer coupling available here.

More than happy to supply / help with any info that will help my fellow OzStoc members  :thumbs
cheers, Lee

Leethal,   Were there any difficulties getting your home made trailer through inspection to get it registered?  Engineering reports for load ratings etc....

Pete, as long as you have the important bits covered like tyre, spring and coupling ratings, stamped load rated safety chain, adequate lights and reflectors, wheels covered with mudgaurds and flaps etc, it is not going to be hard...

But, I have friend who is a trailer builder and he checked it out and was very happy that it was up to it's 250kg gross weight task. It is registered as 'homemade' with one of his VIN's on it. It never went to be inspected... like i said, no-one here cares...

The bike towbar, well, who knows... only a cop on a bad day might have a grizzle and i'll wait and see for that one!  o:)

The 'scout' one looks to be the one to buy, and a reasonable price too.

I'm thinking the price is for the Tent only and does not include the Trailer.  :'(
