Find-A-Town, Make a Word
« on: November 12, 2013, 07:29:26 AM »
Find-A-Town, Make a Word

The idea of this game is to ride and take pictures of your bike with the town or suburbs sign corresponding with the letters of the Motorcycle related word nominated in the game.

When you have all the required first letters to make the word you post up your pictures and get to chose the next Find-A-Town word.

To make it more interesting, if you are not able to find a town starting with a particular letter you can have one "wild card" letter per word, BUT you must take that photo of a town sign starting with any letter in a humorous way to give us all a good laugh.

Some very basic rules:-

- The word must be motorcycle related and of no more than 6 letters
- One town to one letter, no double up of towns for double letters in a word
- Suburbs count as Towns.
- One wild card per word, (A humorous, But CLEAN picture of any Town/Suburb has to be posted)
- Referees Pocket Stocker/ST2UP, All Challengers and Disputes will be resolved by them

Example:     OzSTOC

Pics of your bike at say, Orange NSW, Zetland NSW, Sale Vic, Toowoomba QLD, Orbost Vic, Coutts water NSW.

Post the picture up and the word picture is yours.

So the first word, to get everyone started is: HONDA

Go Forth Find and Photograph!

Interesting... I'd imagine "Windscreen" and other long words might trip people up.

Also for double letters like the ee in windscreen, can we use the same town?

Close Williamson, but it has to be the Town or Suburb sign, with your motorcycle in front of it

Here is a picture below (without my bike as i am at work) of what you need to look for

When all else fails, read the instructions, and then back to square one then for me.

And it may take longer than I thought as I don't think Angusvale, despite being on the link Marus posted, has a township sign anymore, or perhaps for the last 100 years.   In these cases, does a directional sign post count?

Hmm that is a question for Pocket Stocker and ST2UP, they are the game designers :)

Ahh some great interest already..... :thumbsup

Marcus.......Good plan with the cheat sheet  :wink1

Williamson...... Loving that Hotham Heights pic, that's one for the pool room  :clap

So to be eligible it needs to be a Picture of your bike or your bike with others in front of a Town or Suburbs sign, it may be the Town welcome sign, Towns elevation or population sign, but sign that clearly identifies and or promotes the Town or Suburb you are entering or leaving. A sign on the local post offices that say's i.e. Omeo Post Office established 1908 wont make the grade :p

The point of the game is to encourage us all to get snap happy on our travels, promote our passion and enjoy the ride  :thumbsup

Lets go explore  :runyay

Shyte, I could do those in my lunch break.   Three of those are my old stomping ground, and one is currently.   I'm not sure if you are gunna find a township sign for some of them.

Would a railway station sign do?

Below are some acceptable examples:

So to be clear the sign needs to be a sign on the entrance or exist to a town/suburb, if the sign at the railway station on the edge of town is worded in a manner that welcomes and advises you are entering this town that's fine  :thumbsup

Noted, but I reckon the "Wild Card" should be kept up the sleeve and played infrequently.   And only if really needed, eg. if the next word is FLUX (as in flux capacitor).  There are no VIC towns starting with "X".

By the way, Marcus - thanks for the town name link.

Could only find one place in Austrlia starting with "X".  Xantippe, found it here" http://www.fallingrain.com/world/AS/a/X

Google Maps is confused.  A  search reveals two locations, check this: http://goo.gl/maps/b60vc  I don't think anyone is going to a pic of "Welcome to Xantippe" sign here.
