New SSB battery for Little Miss Stealthy
« on: January 15, 2014, 02:04:46 AM »
Well, she's back on the road. Like Winston66, I went for the SSB RTZ14S - with a whopping 340CCA.

What's best is that I only paid $63 ($58 + GST) for it. It turns out there's a local distributor about 5km from my home. Their retail price is meant to be $65 + GST, but since the guy goofed the price on the phone, he honored his original quote. FWIW, All Purpose Batteries current price is $105 - so I'm happy about that.

I bought it from:

Goodchild Enterprises
6 Pusey Road
JANDAKOT WA 6164
Tel: (08) 9417 7033

They've been there for about 20yrs it seems - first time user for me, but I'll be back.

I also made a video of the failed start, multimeter test, and replacement - so watch out Stanley Kubrick! - I'll post it up on YouTube in the next few days.

Good one , Big Ted,
I think that I paid something like $95-00 with , including postal delivery  from the eastern states.
I thought that I got a good deal, got you got a better one.
However I am very pleased with the deal cos I am so isolated here in the wild west and the pricing was so much better than anywhere else , and I think that the CCA of 340 was, is awesome.
I liked the deal so much that I immediately purchased anoher battery , an 18 AH one for the Royal Star.
Both are in and working great.
Cheers to all,
Winston66         (PS. glad to see that someone reads some of my posts)

Mr Honda must have got a dud batch, I had to replace mine in "Black Betty" last December as well. Also went with SSB Lithium, but the heavier duty ( and much more expensive ) LH9-BS. It is the same dimensions as the OEM Yuasa, but 1/5 the weight and also 340CCA :thumbsup

I got 5 years out of the last one ( Yuasa ) in the 1100, it was ridden every day as well.

I try to replace vehicle batteries before they fail. At the first sign, out it comes, in with a new one. Fortunately, the first sign is usually a slight change in the sound when you start it. Very slightly lower frequencies, I suspect. When I bought my ST, the age of the battery was unknown, so I put a new one in. I would rather spend a little more on batteries than risk being stranded. If I'm to be stranded, it won't be because of my battery!

Thanks Rob on the heads up on Goodchilds just picked one up $71.50  as I was unsure of the history on the battery that was in the new bike

They also have the lithium ones for $270 I could not stretch the dollars for one I will wait till prices come down more

If you need a battery and your in Perth give Goodchilds a ring very nice people to deal with  :thumb
