Fuel Cut - Off Relay
« on: April 22, 2015, 05:03:36 AM »
Hi ALL. Minor hiccup last week when this relay became "sluggish" showing around 25 ohms across the "made" contacts and not allowing the fuel pump to operate properly. Pulsed it a dozen or so times to improve conductivity/lower  contact resistance & bike restarted. Have since renewed. Might be useful to someone? Ed.(EssexUk,awaiting Visa) :thumb

Ooooo.... this was starting to sound familiar  :think1

Thanks for the tip, did you swap relays around to isolate that particular relay before reaching for the multimeter ? Did you get "chatter" from the relay ??

Hi ALL,a little follow up to this relay problem.Last week my 2002 1300 started overheating in traffic & it turned out to be the cooling fans relay this time. What I did realise(as per Chris's mail) is that six of the relays in the cluster under the left side cover are all identical but of course doing different jobs! This gives you scope to interchange them to check/get you home by substituting a less critical relay(e.g.headlight HI or LO).Externally they all have identical appearance so I have labelled all to ease ident.Ed. :slvr13

.........................also, will be changing all the standard fit mini-blade fuses to the LED indicator type (led illuminates when fuse is blown) to further aid my fault-finding especially for when it is cold, dark & wet! Ed. :grin
