Speedo Issue.
« on: April 22, 2015, 11:13:49 PM »
The other week I went for a spin into town after some more fine tuning.

Anyway as I was nearly there I discovered I had no speedo, I thought did I have one before, did I refit after fiddling with front wheel?

Pretty sure I did, anyway stopped bike to inspect cable at front wheel.

I discover the end of the hand wrapped around the axle and not attached to Box assembly.I managed to peel away and continued on.

So I remove completely and order new cable,it arrived and today I refitted in hope of extending my riding on the weekend, I go for a run down the driveway no speedo. After considerable examination I remove  the wheel and inspect Box assembly only to discover drive cog is seized and immovable, I chipped it out and the nylon teeth are all stripped.

Managed to organize a replacement hopefully will arrive by Friday.

So don't know what happened, has anyone heard of or experienced this before.

Cheers

Don't know Brock thought I had plenty of grease in there. to late to tell now.

The tightening of the axle bolt wouldn't impact on that? (90 N-m)

Not sure, I think if its not seated correctly (easy to do I think) it can be damaged. If the Honda techs can do it, any one can
