Title: How to stop Repeated Posts
Post by: Brock on March 03, 2015, 09:09:45 PM
Due to the plethora of repeated posts over the years, here is a hint to see what has been posted that you haven't looked at.  I use this method, otherwise I wouldn't be able to see what's going on.

Yep, use that all the time . . . Also use the "search" facility before asking a question as quite often a subject has been addressed before . . Usually a few times . . Also use the "mark all posts as read" facilty to get rid of all those posts of no interest to me . .

This response of Stroppy's is more to the point in avoiding regaling us with hilarious old jokes that are even older having been posted on this Forum at least once.
You can only check that with the "search" button.  Used intelligently, it can very quickly turn up relevant posts back to the beginning of time (well, the beginning of the Forum, anyway).

That gets a bit hard when the same joke/story comes up under a different heading like what happened recently

I use "View the most recent posts on the forum" at the bottom of main page to try to keep up to date with what is happening on OzSTOC

and I do it for free.

It's not hard to do a search on the key words.  It took me 20 seconds to find the "original" post searching the term "pissed".

I skim through all new posts as well, just to see what is happening overall.  If I am actually out doing real world things there may be quite a few to rapidly go through after a day or so away.

I will put my hand up as being guilty over the years of this treachery. It's just that I am usually on the cutting edge of innovation and discovery, but sometimes people who don't work or have nothing to do beat me to "inspirational dissemination" of vitally important rhetoric. .. I mean NEWS! I rely on the Brockinator to swiftly bring me in to line. He is worth every cent he gets on this forum.  😉

Diesel, I am watching you, and as you have keys to the norty corner, I may just lock you out of the house for 5 min or so....

Hey Diesel, always welcome and coffee always available here..... kick down the side stand and c'mon in... Black or white?... instant or espresso? sugar?... yes or no, and how much? ... failing that, also have tea, milo, cuppa soup or iced coffee.

This corner is very hospitable, I have worked hard to make it so because of the number of personal visits  :grin
